On Sunday (Oct. 18), St. Mark’s is celebrating 20 years of the Backpack Club, providing food on the weekends to our LeRoy students with food insecurity. Mary Tyler will give a short overview of the program during church!
This project is a part of the LCCP (LeRoy Christian Community Project) administered by 5 churches — St. Mark's Episcopal Church, First Presbyterian Church of LeRoy, First Baptist Church of Le Roy, LeRoy United Methodist Church, and Calvary Baptist (LeRoy).
We’ll be accepting donations Sunday, as well as throughout the school year. St. Mark’s office is open on Tuesday through Thursday from 7 am to noon. Donations also accepted at the other participating churches, and the food is packed at the First Baptist Church.
This was a groundbreaking program 20 years ago and copied by many other school districts. A shout-out to former principal Jim Thompson (“Mr. T”) for being a driving force and great spokesperson for this project. 🎒🧃🥣🥫

St. Mark's welcomes you and your pet to the third annual Blessing of the Animals service! This takes place in St. Mark's parking lot at the corner of East Main and Church Sts. from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm. Come at your convenience. All animals must be leashed or in their carriers. Pet owners will receive small remembrances of the blessing.

Want to know more about the Episcopal Church? ✝️ The Adult Class starts on Sunday morning, Sept. 20 at 9:30 am in a discussion/study group led by The Rev. Kim Rossi. This group will meet the second and fourth Sundays of each month. All are welcome, and participants can pick up a book in the church office. Send a PM to St. Mark's for more info, call the church office 768 7200, or email the church at stmarksleroy @ gmail.com (no spaces).

Church School for children also starts this week 🎉--at 9:30 am with classes following the 2nd and 4th Sunday schedule.

It's a special Sunday with sundaes to celebrate at coffee hour! 🍨

We enjoyed our visitation today from The Rt. Rev. Stephen T. Lane, Bishop Provisional of the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York! ✝️

Some of it was like “old home week” as Bishop Steve connected with people he knew growing up. Beautiful service with special music by organist Dennis Mellander and soloist Sandy Whiting followed by a delicious coffee hour (cake by Mary Margaret Ripley), a slide show of the Bishop’s school days, and an informative meeting with the vestry and parishioners afterwards.

LE ROY — A special visitor is coming to St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Le Roy on Sunday.

This Sunday, September 13, we are pleased to welcome The Rt. Rev. Stephen T. Lane, Bishop Provisional of the Episcopal Diocese of Western New York. This is a special celebration, in part, because Bishop Steve is a native LeRoyan from the Class of 1967.
He is the Bishop Provisional as he is serving as an interim while the Diocese searches for a new Bishop. After graduating from LeRoy High School, he went to the University of Rochester and then to Colgate Rochester/Bexley Hall/Crozer Seminary. He served as a parish priest in Corning and Elmira and was the Bishop of Maine from 2008-2019.
The community is invited to the service of Holy Eucharist (communion) at 10:30 am, over which the Bishop will preside, and to the reception following.
