Love God, serve others, grow together The Church was established at a certain time, Pentecost, 30A.D. - Acts chapter 2

2. The Church was built on a certain foundation, Jesus Christ. - 1 Corinthians 3-11.

3. Colossians 1:18 "And He is the head o

f the body, the church; He is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything He might have the supremacy."

4. The Church is a Church with definite terms of admission

Hearing the gospel - Acts 2:37 "When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" and Romans 10:17 "Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ." Believing in Jesus Christ - Acts 2:41 "Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day." and Hebrews 11:6 "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. "
Repenting of all sin - Acts 2:38 ""Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."" and Acts 17:30 "In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent." Confession of faith - Acts 8:37 "Philip said, "If you believe with all your heart, you may." and Romans 10:10 "For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved." Baptism (immersion) for the remission of sins - Acts 2:38 ""Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."" and Acts 8:38-39 " And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eu**ch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eu**ch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing."
5. The Church is marked by distinctive worship. Apostles' Doctrine - Acts 2:42 "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." Fellowship (sharing of gifts) - Acts 2:44-45 "All the believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possessions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need." Breaking of bread (Lord's supper) - Acts 2:46 "46Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts." Prayers - Acts 2:42 "They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer." Praise - Ephesians 5:18-19 "Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord."

What comes to your mind when you hear the word “church”?

A building?
A Sunday morning service?
A group of people?
Maybe even a past experience, good or bad.

This Sunday, we’re continuing our This we Believe, series by looking at what the Bible says the church really is. We’ll discover that God didn’t just save us from something. He saved us into something: a family of people learning to follow Jesus together.

Whether you’ve been part of a church for years or you’re just curious about faith, we’d love to have you join us.

What a great first night of The Way!

A huge thank you to all the parents who sent their kids to spend the evening with us. We had a blast playing games, sharing a meal, singing together, and opening God’s Word.

Tonight we looked at the story of the rich young ruler in Mark 10. We talked about how he wasn’t willing to put Jesus first in his life, and we challenged ourselves to ask the same question: Is Jesus really number one in my life? Following Jesus means choosing Him above everything else.

Thanks again to all of our volunteers who made the night possible. We can’t wait to do it again next month!

Just a reminder, church family: this Sunday is Father’s Day, which means we’ll be wrapping up our baby bottle fundraiser for Her Health.

Please bring back any baby bottles you’ve been filling with change and return them this Sunday. If you haven’t had a chance to pick up a bottle yet, we still have a few extras available at the church. You can also slip a check into a bottle and return it on Sunday.

Thank you for helping support this important ministry!

“Victory in Jesus, my Savior forever…”

During today’s message on the gospel, Matt Wentz was joined by Dick Porter and Don Gordon for a special performance of Victory in Jesus. We thought you’d enjoy this encouraging moment from our worship service.
