Rev. Stephanie is officially an Oklahoma National Guard Army Chaplain! Earlier this month she received her chaplain pin from Oklahoma State Chaplain, Col. Vanpool, and exchanged numbers with the incredible community of people she bonded with throughout her training this summer. We're extremely proud of her and the work she's doing for the military community here in Lawton-Fort Sill!

Rev. Stephanie is almost home! Last week Rev. Stephanie passed her Army Fitness Test and the Chaplain Corps celebrated their 251st anniversary. This week was the home stretch! Monday they received their commander briefs, and then Tuesday through Thursday was their capstone. Female chaplains from class 26-002 prepared with tips for females staying in the field, and received an initial Warod yesterday that they used as to prep for "deploying" for the mission.

Rev. Stephanie has one more week of Oklahoma National Guard Chaplain training in South Carolina! A highlight from July included visiting the Army Chaplain Corps Museum. Some facts that stood out were that the Chaplain Corps has been around longer than America - 251 years! - and that the word chaplain comes from a Roman soldier, Martin of Tours, who converted to Christianity. "Chaplain" derives from the same root as "cape," after Martin tore his soldier's cape to to give to a beggar. The group photo is a break on the lecture hall filled with 93 trainees.

Rev. Stephanie has been busy with Oklahoma National Guard Chaplain training in South Carolina, and it's no joke! Earlier this month she trekked 3.5 miles with 30 lb rucksacks in preparation for a ruck for graduation requirement: 7.5 miles (approximately 17,000 steps) with a 35 lb rucksack and water!

She said, "The last hill between mile 6 and 7 required some conversation with God!" When your priest is a National Guard Chaplain, you know she means business!
