In SonShine Express, we have been learning about some of Jesus’ parables—earthly stories with a heavenly meaning. Today, we held actual mustard seeds, and saw for ourselves how tiny they are! It’s amazing that God can take something so tiny, and grow it to be so useful for eating and providing a place for birds to nest.

This parable made me think of these young kids. I pray that God will grow them to be big, strong, and a safe place for others in God’s Kingdom. Lord, let it be so.

We had our first Light of Mine Story Time of the school year today, and it was so good for our friends to be back together again!

We read The Biggest Story ABC book, which uses the alphabet to tell the story of the Bible.

Then, we used play doh to make the shapes of some letters.

Of course, we also sang some of our favorite songs and played with our friends. I love seeing them learning to share, listen, and play together.

God is good and we are grateful that He has blessed our church family with all of our children!

This Sunday will begin our Fall Quarter. If your child is promoting to a new class, this will be the day! We'd love to have you join us for Bible class at 9:30. We have great classes for kids and adults!

Yay! Light of Mine Story Time is BACK!

I can't wait to see all my little friends (and their families) on Tuesday, September 8, for our first story time of the Fall. This hour is geared toward all students from birth through preschool. We will sing some songs, listen to a story, have an activity, and enjoy some play time!

We will meet in the Junior Junction classroom from 10:30-11:30.

I can't wait!

We had the best time at our last Tuesday Out of the summer! The kids had a blast at Kids Empire in Moore. They climbed, jumped, slid, and even played some soccer. We’ve had such a great summer with this group!!☀️

Today in Story Time, we read Hooray for Fish and learned that even though no one looks exactly like us, we can still be friends with them. We also played with babies and dressed up.

We want to give a huge thanks to Ms. Jill for leading Story Time this summer for all of our little friends! It was a great opportunity for us to continue to grow closer to God while building relationships with our church friends!

Story Time will be taking a little break for the month of August, but Mrs. Janice can’t wait to get started again in September!

The whole family can get involved!

Save these dates! We will need lots of help with Backpacks of Blessings.

We are packing the supply bags together as a church family from 6:30-7:30 on Wednesday, August 5. All ages are helpful at this event! We will also enjoy some homemade ice cream after packing all of the bags.

Next, we will need help transporting all of the backpacks and supplies to Edison on Monday, August 10. We will meet at the church at 9:30 AM and load up vehicles before heading to the school to set up for their back to school night that evening.

We will also need help that evening but I don't know the time for that yet.

In our last Light of Mine Story Time, Ms. Jill read You’re My Little Firecracker by Natalie Marshall. It uses fun rhymes and festive imagery to show how children bring color and joy to our lives.

They used cardboard rolls to make their own fireworks display!

There’s only one more Story Time for the summer! July 21 at 10:30. Hope to see you there!

This summer has our full permission to slow down! We had a great time at Tuesday Out this week. We took some time to create and play and it was a GREAT way to spend a Tuesday!

It’s hard to believe that next Tuesday will be our last Tuesday Out of the summer! Thank you for sharing your kids with us and for giving them an opportunity to develop relationships with other kids from church. Those friendships will serve them well in their futures!
