When anxiety or overwhelm starts to take over, bringing your attention back to the present moment can help quiet the noise.

Try the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding technique:
5 things you can see.
4 things you can hear.
3 things you can touch.
2 things you can smell.
1 thing you can taste.

Sometimes peace begins by simply noticing what’s right in front of you. And as John 14:27 reminds us, we don’t have to face troubled moments without hope.

Some moments remind us why access to counseling matters so much.

Since the tragedy at Apalachee High School in September 2024, Freedom Path Counseling has continued to walk alongside children, teens, and families impacted by this devastating event.

Through the generous support of the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia and other generous donors, we have been able to provide ongoing counseling at no cost to those affected and that support continues today.

Healing doesn’t follow a timeline. For many, the effects of trauma, grief, and loss continue long after the immediate crisis has passed. That’s why our commitment has never been limited to the weeks or months following the tragedy.

This short video shares a piece of that ongoing story and demonstrates what is possible when community partners come together to ensure people have access to care when they need it.

We are deeply grateful to the Community Foundation for Northeast Georgia for continuing to invest in this work and helping us provide a path toward healing for those impacted by the Apalachee tragedy.
