One Life Church

One Life Church REFRESHING People - Purpose - Promise & Potential by REACHING People Where They Are - How They Are - No Matter Who They Are Pastor Kennard M.

ORIGIN - Northeast Community Church began with an act of obedience by Pastor Gerald McPhail, the first Pastor. Initially, a bible study was held in his home. Eventually, the first public worship service was held in March of 1994. Revival - As attendance increased to overflow, God provided a new church home at 1290 Harbins Road. The first public worship service in this new location, held in March o

f 1999, had seventy-seven people in attendance. Believing that 1290 Harbins was only a temporary location, Northeast Community Church purchased 6 acres of land in 2000 to build its own sanctuary. God had another plan; He provided above and beyond what Northeast could ask or think. TRANSITION - In 2011, Pastor McPhail reached out to Pastor Tyrone Barnette, Peace Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia, for advice and recommendations. On Thanksgiving Eve, the leadership team voted unanimously to call Dr. Kenneth Ellis as the second pastor of Northeast Community Church. On December 18, 2011, Pastor McPhail passed the staff (literally) to Dr. Ellis. Dr. Ellis preached his first sermon as pastor on January 1, 2012. In 2017, Dr. Kenneth Ellis was called to a different ministry, so the search began to identify the next pastor for Northeast community church. SHIFT - After an exhaustive search begun in the fall of 2017, with much fasting and prayer, the third pastor as identified for Northeast Community Church. Weever preached his first sermon as pastor Sunday May 6, 2018. He is a spirit-filled man of God and is definitely the right person, in the right place for such a time of this. The second half of 2018 and the first half of 2019 were spent reviewing and evaluating the ministry’s focus, leadership development training and strategic planning. God opened a door for us, in a shared space partnership with White Oak Baptist Church, in Lilburn, Georgia; and we began the process to rebrand the image and focus of the church. Through the vision of Pastor Weever, in June 2018, we embarked on the EVERTHING CHANGES IN 120 DAYS campaign. The ministry location changed from Lawrenceville to Lilburn, service time changed from 10:00 A.M. to 8:30 A.M., and on Sunday September 15, 2019, a Grand Opening Celebration was held under the official new name One Life Church with the mission to REFRESH PEOPLE – PURPOSE – PROMISE & POTENTIAL by REACHING PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE – HOW THEY ARE NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE. Under Pastor Weever’s leadership, a sponsorship lunch program and book mobile partnership was instituted at two local elementary schools, Bible Study small groups expanded from two locations to five locations, and Breakfast Cafe@1352 was in full swing. It appears that God had other plans as the COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a resounding stop in the first quarter of 2020 and continued late into 2020. One Life Church had to adapt a new way of being the church. We very quickly had to manage being completely virtual while adapting to a new norm. But we kept the faith, we kept running the race, we continued to be light in a dark world. Little did we know that the One Life story was just beginning. Through the generosity of a local church, Greystone Church in Loganville, GA; we were able to immediately create a virtual presence. Amid the pandemic the church never missed Sunday Services, never skipped a beat. In 2021, in the midst of the COVID-10 Pandemic, the Lord again showed HIMSELF Strong & Mighty. God opened an opportunity for One Life Church to acquire an independent property in the city of Lawrenceville, one of the fastest growing areas of Gwinnett County. Again, we had to adjust and transition with the Lord’s leading. On Sunday May 2, 2021, the official day of Pastor Weever’s 3rd Year Anniversary, One Life Church held its’ 1st service in the new location at 787 Paden Drive – Lawrenceville, Georgia 30044. THIS IS THE LORD’S DOING & IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR SIGHT. It has not yet appeared what we shall be, BUT THE LORD IS NOT THROUGH WITH US YET. We are proud to be ONE LIFE CHURCH. There is an OPEN INVITATION FOR ANY AND EVERONE TO COME AND DO LIFE WITH US.

Pastor Kennard Weever
Theme: Transformation Forward
Series: One Life to Live
Sermon: How Are You Living?
Scripture: Ephesians 5:15-20

Key Points

A. How Are You Living?

•How are you living?
•You only got one life to live and you can’t start over.
•Breathing indicates you are alive, but it doesn’t provide any evidence about how you are living.
•Having a birthday grants you another year, but it doesn’t determine if you are any wiser.
•Attending church or knowing and quoting scripture tells people what you have memorized, but it doesn’t provide any evidence about how you have treated people or what you are becoming.
•God is not impressed with how long you have lived.
•God is concerned about what you have done with the life that he has given you.

B. Grace: If We are Going to Live

•All of us have trespasses and sins.
•It is possible for us to have trespasses and not be sinful.
•We must understand what Jesus has done for us if we are going to live.
• Jesus loved us so much that he died on the cross while we were still sinning.
•It is by God’s grace that we are saved by faith and made alive in Jesus.
•God’s grace will transform the way we live.
•God’s grace is not based on our behavior.
•Our changed lives will be the evidence that grace is doing something in us.
•Our sin can’t return God’s gift of grace back to him.
•Grace is a gift that God has given us freely and it is unreturnable.

C. Our Walk

•Our walk is our life, our life is not our walk.
•Our walk shapes our conduct, character, choices, relationships, priorities, and our daily lives in the real world that exist outside of church.
•We will walk worthy of our calling, walk in love, walk as children of the light, and walk circumspectly when God’s grace is working in us.
•You can be busy, moving, and successful, but still be unproductive. God will see no fruit in you because you are acting out of his will.
•To walk in love means you must walk in the love of Christ. You must live with kindness and humility.
•To walk circumspectly means you must consider and calculate the cost before you take action. You must walk carefully, accurately, and intentionally.

D. What is Your Life Producing?

• We have become a culture of opinionated commentators.
•What are you going to do to change what is wrong?
•You shouldn’t allow social media, culture, other people’s opinions, hurt, or your comfort zone to determine your behavior, conviction, value, identity, or commitment level to God.
•Do people receive grace and mercy or condemnation from you?
•What is your life producing? How are you spending or investing in your life?
•You should make use of every moment that God has put in your hands.
•God loves you no matter what you have done. He has total control over your life. He will never abandon you or forsake you.
•When you walk with Christ, he will lead you to places where you can serve him.
•When was the last time that you did something that wasn’t for you own benefit?

Theme: Transformation Forward
Series: One Life to Live
Sermon: Don’t Disappear
Scriptures: Luke 10:38-42

You shouldn’t let the pressures of life break what God is trying to build in you. Whatever you are going through, you are just under pressure. There is a blessing in being under pressure. Life doesn’t destroy you all at once. You shouldn’t disappear or be in despair. You only have one life to live.

Martha was distracted by a whole lot of things. Some of us stay busy or respond out of guilt or a guilty complex. It is possible for you to serve Jesus and to be pulled away from him. Sometimes, what pulls you away from Jesus makes you disappear isn’t necessarily bad. Sometimes, it may look like success or ministry work. You may remain in a constant autopilot mode. You can be present and yet not present at the same time. Where are you physically, mentally, psychologically, or socially?

KEY POINTS

A. You Can Lose Yourself in Doing Good Things

• Martha was doing the right things in the wrong way.
• Martha’s service, responsibility, and productivity became her anxiety, resentment, and distraction from Jesus.
• Martha complained to Jesus about Mary who wasn’t helping her.
• Sometimes, the problem isn’t that nobody cares about us. The problem could be that we have trained people to believe we don’t need their help.
• Strong people can disappear and lose or forget themselves in doing good things.
• You shouldn’t be or do everything for everybody while you are a stranger to yourself.

B. Life Will Take What You Keep Giving It

• Mary made a choice to sit down at the feet of Jesus and listen to him speak.
• What Mary did wasn’t taken away from her.
• Jesus supported Mary’s choice and decision. He told Martha to calm down.
• You must make a decision to “choose me” in order to keep from disappearing.
• Some of us are tired and weak because we have poured out or given away too much of ourselves.
• What will you do when the applause, praise, or validation stops?

You must remain calm and breathe. You are not what has happened to you. Sometimes, you have to walk away from other people in order to not lose yourself.

You are at the feet of Jesus and moving with him. Will you be able to transition or move on from your anxiety, stress, and worry? Whose feet are you holding onto?
