One Life Church

One Life Church REFRESHING People - Purpose - Promise & Potential by REACHING People Where They Are - How They Are - No Matter Who They Are Pastor Kennard M.

ORIGIN - Northeast Community Church began with an act of obedience by Pastor Gerald McPhail, the first Pastor. Initially, a bible study was held in his home. Eventually, the first public worship service was held in March of 1994. Revival - As attendance increased to overflow, God provided a new church home at 1290 Harbins Road. The first public worship service in this new location, held in March o

f 1999, had seventy-seven people in attendance. Believing that 1290 Harbins was only a temporary location, Northeast Community Church purchased 6 acres of land in 2000 to build its own sanctuary. God had another plan; He provided above and beyond what Northeast could ask or think. TRANSITION - In 2011, Pastor McPhail reached out to Pastor Tyrone Barnette, Peace Baptist Church in Decatur, Georgia, for advice and recommendations. On Thanksgiving Eve, the leadership team voted unanimously to call Dr. Kenneth Ellis as the second pastor of Northeast Community Church. On December 18, 2011, Pastor McPhail passed the staff (literally) to Dr. Ellis. Dr. Ellis preached his first sermon as pastor on January 1, 2012. In 2017, Dr. Kenneth Ellis was called to a different ministry, so the search began to identify the next pastor for Northeast community church. SHIFT - After an exhaustive search begun in the fall of 2017, with much fasting and prayer, the third pastor as identified for Northeast Community Church. Weever preached his first sermon as pastor Sunday May 6, 2018. He is a spirit-filled man of God and is definitely the right person, in the right place for such a time of this. The second half of 2018 and the first half of 2019 were spent reviewing and evaluating the ministry’s focus, leadership development training and strategic planning. God opened a door for us, in a shared space partnership with White Oak Baptist Church, in Lilburn, Georgia; and we began the process to rebrand the image and focus of the church. Through the vision of Pastor Weever, in June 2018, we embarked on the EVERTHING CHANGES IN 120 DAYS campaign. The ministry location changed from Lawrenceville to Lilburn, service time changed from 10:00 A.M. to 8:30 A.M., and on Sunday September 15, 2019, a Grand Opening Celebration was held under the official new name One Life Church with the mission to REFRESH PEOPLE – PURPOSE – PROMISE & POTENTIAL by REACHING PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE – HOW THEY ARE NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE. Under Pastor Weever’s leadership, a sponsorship lunch program and book mobile partnership was instituted at two local elementary schools, Bible Study small groups expanded from two locations to five locations, and Breakfast Cafe@1352 was in full swing. It appears that God had other plans as the COVID-19 pandemic brought the world to a resounding stop in the first quarter of 2020 and continued late into 2020. One Life Church had to adapt a new way of being the church. We very quickly had to manage being completely virtual while adapting to a new norm. But we kept the faith, we kept running the race, we continued to be light in a dark world. Little did we know that the One Life story was just beginning. Through the generosity of a local church, Greystone Church in Loganville, GA; we were able to immediately create a virtual presence. Amid the pandemic the church never missed Sunday Services, never skipped a beat. In 2021, in the midst of the COVID-10 Pandemic, the Lord again showed HIMSELF Strong & Mighty. God opened an opportunity for One Life Church to acquire an independent property in the city of Lawrenceville, one of the fastest growing areas of Gwinnett County. Again, we had to adjust and transition with the Lord’s leading. On Sunday May 2, 2021, the official day of Pastor Weever’s 3rd Year Anniversary, One Life Church held its’ 1st service in the new location at 787 Paden Drive – Lawrenceville, Georgia 30044. THIS IS THE LORD’S DOING & IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR SIGHT. It has not yet appeared what we shall be, BUT THE LORD IS NOT THROUGH WITH US YET. We are proud to be ONE LIFE CHURCH. There is an OPEN INVITATION FOR ANY AND EVERONE TO COME AND DO LIFE WITH US.

DON'T QUIT in the waiting season! The disciples waited, prayed, endured uncertainty, and then suddenly everything changed. The fire fell. The Spirit moved. The breakthrough came. 🙌🏾

What if the thing you've been praying for is on the other side of your persistence? Stay faithful and expectant. 🙏🏾💙

Pastor Kennard Weever
Theme: Transformation Forward
Series: One Life to Live
Sermon: Don’t Skip the Mirror
Scripture: Mark 12:28-31

Jesus commanded us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Jesus didn’t mean to love our neighbors and to hate or forget ourselves. We can support, encourage, and build up everyone else, while we blame or fight ourselves. Some of us may live with Regrets, Insecurities, Self-hate, or Deep Invincible Wounds that are caused by others or ourselves.

KEY POINTS

1. You Can’t Give What You Don’t Possess.

• Sometimes, sacrifices (giving to someone else or carrying someone else’s burdens) can lead to Self-Neglect for us.
• You can’t pour from an empty cup.
• Empty and broken people have nothing to give.
• You can’t continue to run on empty in an attempt to fill up someone else.

2. God’s Love for You is Not Based on Performance.

• The greatest myth is God can’t forgive or love us after we have failed or sinned.
• God’s grace has us covered. According to Romans 8:1, now there is no condemnation for those who are covered and belong to Christ Jesus. He will deal with us under his covering.
• We must stop bringing up what God has already Covered and Buried.
• Our failures or mistakes were never meant to become our permanent residence or a lifetime sentence.
• Your titles, roles, positions, addictions, setbacks, or depression do not make up your identity.
• You are not what you do or what you have been through.

3. See Yourself in the Way that God Sees You.

• Since you are God’s child, you belong to him and he sees value in you.
• You are FEARFULLY and WONDERFULLY made by God. You are chosen and loved by Him.
• Comparison will rob you of your joy.
• You should stop allowing people to make you feel as if you don’t have any value or don’t belong at the table.
• The mirror was designed to expose your flaws (wrongs) ad what looks good (right).
• Don’t skip or forsake the mirror or who is in the mirror.
• You must learn to appreciate the beauty of gray hairs on your head as you look in the mirror.

You CAN PASS the TEST of LIFE even with scars. Your stubbornness and strong will are not stronger than God’s grace. You are refusing God’s game when you punish yourself. You are still breathing because God sees value in you. You must find ways to encourage yourself by speaking positively.

You must be true to yourself first before you can love and serve people authentically. The first commandment is to love (serve) God with all your Soul, Mind, and Heart. The second commandment is to Love your neighbor as yourself. When was the last time that you “loved” on yourself?

Don’t skip the mirror, find a mirror and hold it up to your face. Look intentionally and learn to see yourself in the way that God sees you!!

Can we be honest for a moment? Some seasons of life do not make sense while you’re living through them. Some seasons feel painful, confusing, lonely, and exhausting. Seasons where you wonder why things are taking so long or why God seems quiet. But just because you do not understand the season does not mean it does not have purpose.

God does some of His greatest work in the hidden places. He uses difficult seasons to strengthen your faith, shape your character, and prepare you for what’s next. What feels like delay could actually be development. What feels uncomfortable could be the very thing God uses to grow you.

Do not give up on yourself in a season that is still growing you. There is purpose here! 💚

Are you PLANTED? Just because you can't see growth doesn't mean God isn't growing you. A tree can look lifeless in one season and still be deeply rooted. In the same way, God will sometimes allow uncertainty to reveal where your roots really are.

Don't judge your life by one season. Stay planted. Stay rooted. Growth is happening beneath the surface! 🌱🔥

Before you step into this new week, pause for a second and ask yourself: what have you been speaking over your life lately? Because after a while, the words we repeat start shaping the way we think, the way we feel, and the way we move. If all you speak is stress, fear, and frustration, eventually your heart starts believing it.

This week, speak life over your mind when anxiety creeps in. Speak life over your family when things feel uncertain. Speak life over your faith, even if you’re still waiting on God to move.

You may not have all the answers right now, but don’t let negativity have the final word over your life. God is still faithful, present, and working things out for your good. 💚
