MTW has been working in Ukraine since 1994. Ukraine is currently in the midst of a war and the church is in great need. The western part of the country is free from the physical threat of the war, but not the psychological, spiritual, and emotional impacts. We believe the time is right to begin expanding church planting efforts. Ready to serve?

Growing up as the son of a pastor, MTW missionary Joel Spence initially felt intimidated by the idea of becoming a pastor himself. Instead, he joined the military and served in Iraq and Afghanistan. During his military service Joel led some Bible studies and fellow soldiers encouraged him to consider a calling in ministry. God led him to pursue seminary and ordination, and grew Joel’s passion for the mission field. After gaining some experience pastoring in the U.S., he felt ready to serve overseas.

After Chris Claburn came to faith in college through a student ministry, God ignited a passion for missions in him. The Lord led him to East Asia for a summer. Then for two years more. During his time there, Chris witnessed the stark reality of how little most people knew about Christianity. He was astonished at how many had never heard the gospel, had never heard of Jesus, and didn’t even know anyone who knew.
