Jacob and Elizabeth Delich, missionaries serving in Puerto Rico with Biblical Ministries Worldwide, recently shared an update on how they are seeking to reach their local community with the Gospel in a primarily Spanish-speaking culture as an English-speaking church.
This is a challenge they have been praying through, asking God for creative and meaningful ways to build relationships and share Christ.
Their most recent outreach centered around something simple—baking sourdough bread and distributing free loaves along with the Gospel of John in both English and Spanish. The outreach unfolded in two parts. First, they spent three days teaching believers in their church how to make the bread from scratch, creating intentional time for discipleship and fellowship. Then, those believers were sent out to share the bread within their own circles of influence, engaging in simple acts of evangelism and hospitality.
Throughout the process, they were reminded that they are simply “beggars sharing with other beggars where we found bread”—pointing others to Jesus, the Bread of Life.
We love seeing how our Biblical Ministries Worldwide missionaries continually look for creative, practical, and relational ways to share the Gospel in their communities.
