James “Willis” Whitaker, 83, of Greendale, Indiana, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Fitch-Denney Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Lawrence Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Father John Hollowell officiating.

Interment will follow at Greendale Cemetery in Greendale, Indiana.

Contributions may be made to Loving Hearts Hospice.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

🌻 REGISTRATION ENDS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1! 🌻
My goal is to help others experience the same HOPE and HEALING I found at a retreat in 2019. That weekend, I realized I had spent much of my life fearing God and trying to be good enough for Him. But it’s hard to run to someone for comfort when you’re afraid of them. As I learned to run to God instead of fear Him, my anxiety began to change.

At that retreat, I couldn’t write a letter about how much God loved me, so I wrote it to my daughter instead. As I described how deeply I loved her, something clicked: If I love her this much, how much more must the God who created me love me?

That journey is at the heart of my book, Pray, Hope, & Don’t Worry. I combine faith and science to help explain anxiety, the nervous system, relationships, and practical ways we can begin to heal. There are 3 options this year because I want the message to reach as many people as possible:
