Anderson County High School students have helped create the county's first Youth Coalition for the Anderson County ASAP (Agency for Substance Abuse Policy) Board. After their first meeting, students selected their official name as SOS (Saving Our Students). Their first meeting, held on February 12, 2016, resulted in the beginning of their first community wide substance abuse educational project. T

he group of students is now working on their project to target youth of Anderson County that will help prevent substance abuse at all ages. Their project involves creating & producing a video entitled "101 Things to Do Besides Drugs", along with printed material. The students are researching & gathering data, surveying their peers, interviewing local officials & school personnel to get current & pertinent information for use in their video & materials production. Later this semester, the SOS members will make presentations of their finished products from the substance abuse educational project to schools, churches, clubs, law enforcement, elected officials, & other entities within Anderson County. The students are on fire for their mission and working tirelessly toward their goal to complete the project with excellent quality. They want their work to make an impact on the youth of their community.

That’s a wrap on ! We hope you learned something new to use when talking to kids about the dangers of underage drinking. Although April is over, it's never a bad time to have an open & honest conversation with your kids about how to say "YES" to a healthy lifestyle and "NO" to underage drinking. https://bit.ly/3xn6DG4

THIS IS NEXT WEEK!! PLEASE INVITE THOSE THAT YOU KNOW THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE LOSS OF A LOVED ONE TO SU***DE TO CONSIDER JOINING US

May 8, 2024, will be our 10th Anniversary of the Christian Survivors of Su***de Support Group. We would love to have some of our past members of the group come back and join us on this date so you can give us an update of where you are on your continued journey. In the last ten years we have been through some very difficult and devastating times, and we have had some tremendous times of encouragement and support. Without a doubt, we know that the Lord was the one that opened the door for us to start this much needed support group. Our prayer is that more churches will see the need to start this ministry in their community. If you have any questions on how to start this type of group, please reach out to me through Facebook or emailing us at [email protected].
