On Pentecost Sunday, explore how the Holy Spirit invites us to gain knowledge and then to accept wisdom to put that knowledge to work for the Kingdom of God on Earth.

Our new sound system hasn't been installed yet, but we found a way to record this week's sermon. We apologize the audio isn't as clear as possible. We hope to have a much better exprience next week.
Today, we explore the story of Jesus meeting the Samaritan woman at the well to learn what it means for God to invite us all to belong. We all have a seat at the table, so what can we do to ensure people who have not yet heard the good news understand that they, too, have a seat reserved for them?

Our sound board died unexpectedly, so we couldn't record this week. We hope to be able to at least record the service next week.

We explore what it means to be cleansed. Using the text from Isaiah 1, we consider how a good place to start is to be genuine — to do what we say and act on our convictions.

The congregation celebrates 160 to 170 years of ministry in north Lawrence. The service features an explanation as to the discrepancy to the beginning of the church and messages from former pastors. We have videos from two bishops, and Rev. Jin Cho, Northeast Kansas District superintendent, provides the message.

We conclude a mini-series about God's invitation to us to live a life of purpose by considering the decision made by Queen Esther. Maybe she was made queen for "such a time as this," to save her people. How might we be in the right place, at the right time, for purposes big and small?

After Lent and Easter, we return to our sermon series about all that God invites us to by exploring the life of Jimmy Carter and how he lived a life of purpose. By following the example of the former U.S. president’s life after serving in office and the story of the Great Commission, we talk about what it means to live our lives with a divine purpose.

Thank you to the small army - 18 people! - who showed up for our work day in preparation for our April 26 anniversary celebration.
Lots of cleanup to help our amazing custodian, Gary Campbell. And we’re even cleaning up the outside!

We celebrate Resurrection Sunday by considering how the story of Jesus overcoming death and opening the Kingdom for all who believe has been passed down from the eyewitnesses of that day to those of us who have not seen, and yet believe.

Throughout the season of Lent and all this week, we've been asking one of the biggest questions in human history: Why did Jesus have to die?
And the answers have been building, one on top of another.
He died to change our story — to replace a narrative of separation with one of restoration. He died as our substitute, carrying everything we could never carry ourselves. He died to pay a debt we had no hope of settling on our own. He died to show us, by example, what love looks like when it goes all the way to the end. He died to prove, beyond any doubt, how deeply and completely we are loved.
And he died because God — and Good — was always going to defeat Evil. The cross was the moment it happened.
This morning, we gather to celebrate Jesus and his victory over death for all of us.
The tomb is empty! Our debt is paid! Humanity’s story has a new ending — and you are part of it!
We would love to celebrate with you this morning. Worship is at 11 a.m. at Centenary United Methodist Church, 245 N. 4th St. in north Lawrence. Come as you are. Everyone is welcome. And you are invited to join us in a time of communion as well.
He is risen. He is risen indeed!
