What is faith?

Faith is living and breathing, it is not stagnant. God is inviting us to press into that faith and to take action within our own lives. An action of faith is being obedient and a deep trust for who God is.

How can you act in faith this week?

Are you comfortable with the unfamiliar?

God has more for our lives than to stay stuck in our bubble of familiar places. Sometimes where God is leading us requires us to trust that leaving our comfortability behind will open a door for him to bring us into something more, something better.

What is a promise to you?

In the book of Exodus God keeps His promise that he is Yahweh, the King of kings and Lord of lords. He defeats all of the other false gods and humiliates them, showing the Israelites and the universe that he is the One True God, above all.

Do you believe God can intervene in your life?

Throughout the book of Exodus God’s intervention is evident. God is still intervening in our lives and the world today. The challenge is to trust the truth of his intervention in our lives, even if the world tries its hardest to not to acknowledge it.

What does it mean to work together?

God doesn’t want men and women in competition with one another, fighting for preeminence, battling for dominance, but instead fighting together for the mission of the kingdom of God. A beautiful alliance is formed when we value what each brings to the table.

What is an image bearer?

God created humans to be His image bearers. Both men and women bear the image of God. God has uniquely deposited aspects of His image in man and in woman. So when we look poorly upon men or women, we are actually looking down on the image of God.

Power of partnership

God saw Adam by himself and knew that man would need a companion, a helper. So God created a woman, and Adam and Eve became partners pursuing a greater purpose together. The woman is not a helper to the man, she is a helper in the mission of the kingdom of God that was given to both of them.

What does it mean to be a helper?

We only have one life to live. But it’s easy to get wrapped up in the distractions that the devil tries to place before us. God wants to set us free from those distractions so that we can seek first His kingdom and truly live the life He created for us to live.

What’s the greatest gift you’ve ever received?

Christianity is not a brand of morality. As human beings, we are lost and in need of a savior. The beauty of Christianity is that no matter how hard we try, we cannot save ourselves. But, despite the fact that we could never earn it, God offers His free gift of salvation and provides the Holy Spirit to transform us.

What are you being led by?

To be led by the Holy Spirit means that we are no longer “calling the shots.” To be led requires a surrender…a giving up of control. In a world that tells us being moral is enough, it can be hard to want to surrender full control, but God offers to lead us in a way far better than we could lead ourselves.
