A PRAYER FOR THE NEW LITURGICAL YEAR on September 1st
O Lord Jesus Christ our God,
You are the Alpha and the Omega,
the Beginning and the End,
the One through whom the universe was created.
O Lord and Master of all creation,
with thanksgiving we acknowledge
that everything that exists comes from You and belongs to You.
You are the author of time itself yet You existed before time
and remain the same yesterday, today and forever.
You have set in place times and seasons
by Your divine Providence.
You have set the sun to rule the day
and the moon and stars to govern the night.
Lord Jesus, in Your amazing goodness,
bless the beginning of this New Year.
Bless us, Your unworthy servants, and hear our prayer this day.
May this New Year be for us a year of Your grace.
Direct our steps.
Guide us, guard us, keep us and protect us.
Bless our comings and our goings.
Bless the works of our hands
that we might offer everything to You.
Wipe away all our sins,
Preserve our lives that we may have time to repent,
drawing ever nearer to You in praise and gratitude.
Grant us Your peace, a sincere faith, and love without hypocrisy.
Enable us to find inspiration and renewal in Your Holy Spirit
that we may love You with all our hearts,
our neighbors as ourselves,
and do Your will in everything.
For You, O Christ our God, are merciful and loving
and to You do we offer up glory,
together with Your Father who is without beginning,
and Your Holy, good and life-creating Spirit,
now and forever and to the ages of ages. AMEN!
