"Great news from the Garden! We set a goal of delivering 3,000 pounds of fresh produce to Just Food this season, and we have exceeded that goal-3,054 pounds and growing! It has been a delightful variety of melons, peppers, beans, tomatoes, eggplant, okra, radishes, greens, onions, squash, apples, pears, cabbage, and carrots. Stay tuned for a season total in November.

PS- Did you know the real name of the Big Garden is actually the First Harvest Community Garden? Come on out and lend a hand-our community has a lot of folks to feed."

The Big Garden 2025 season is right around the corner! Last year we delivered 2,462 pounds of fresh produce to Just Food, and over a dozen First Church folks grew some lovely veggies in their own individual beds. The garden is a wonderful place to learn about gardening, meet some great people, and feel God's presence on the prairie. Each week we see and experience what an impact this ministry has on our community.

Another beautiful evening in the garden last Wednesday night. And what a bountiful harvest- we delivered 112 lbs of cabbage, eggplant, peppers, okra (Our littlest gardener 👧 is quite good at finding okra on the stalk), tomatoes, turnips, beets, chard, spinach and greens. Wow, right? With an extra delivery from Dwight, we have reached 2,072 pounds for the season!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we still have cabbage, eggplant, turnips, beets, greens, and more to harvest. God is Good!💚💚💚

Nothing gets me more energized than potato night at the garden! The guys did a great job of digging all the tubers and some of them (the tubers, that is) were pretty darn big...football sized!
We also had a nice harvest of eggplant, okra, tomatoes, chard, and even our first fall cabbage. 364 lbs of produce to Just Food this morning. We have now reached a total of 1,764 lbs for the season. That exceeds last year's total and tops our best season ever. -Laura
