Here we have a before and after of our basement. It helps to see how far we have come and say an extra prayer of thanksgiving to God. We still have our church despite this disaster! However, notice the fireproofing for safety around the pillars and the upgrades that await us. -Fr Morris

Fr. Morris - Sacred Heart Update: Our 2026 is here and there is plenty to prepare, yet a look back at the year we had is due. We wrapped up 2025 with installations of the carpet in the choir loft, the lift, custom globes on light fixtures, the altar of sacrifice, and ambo. We have trim and the confessional facade up and stained. The basement passed electrical inspection. It entailed floor to ceiling updates with fire resistance drywall and pillar protection. The bathrooms and the kitchen are fully operational. Glass above front doors were deep cleaned and new front doors installed. Now, this new year has us looking for more installations for the Sacred Heart Church. Sinks were just installed today (Friday 2nd) in the sacristy. Flooring is closer to finish with pews close to getting installed. The high altar is getting painted to match the altar of sacrifice and ambo and is closer to installation. We are looking at a times for dedication, and I am talking closely with the Bishop about our progress. Things are pressing ever more forward and say a prayer for on time deliveries!

I will never forget the phone call Tom & I received from Gary Lemke at 6 am two years ago this morning!
So heart wretching!
We have so many people to thank in our process of getting back into Sacred Heart!
It is going to be so glorious getting to be able to pray in this beautifully restored church!
We are getting closer each and every day!

Congratulations Sacred Heart Church families! We say praise & thanks to God for 132 years of His presence in the Lawrence area!
Here are some pictures of the finished murals and stenciling!
Work continues on the church even now as I write this on stained glass windows returning today & being installed. Staining in the servers & acolyte sacristy & base boards in the sanctuary.

This is taken from our Loco gazette! We didn't know of the bad weather that day! Thought you might be interested in reading this!
Just to update you, sorry it's been awhile since I did that, things are going well here at Sacred Heart Church!
We are just a few months away from our Dedication! Upstairs, the painting is mostly completed (final touchups necessary), pews are getting refinished, electricians have been challenged with rewriring! The old wiring had melted together with the intense heat. They're pulling this out & putting new in everywhere! They still have more to do. New bathroom on the main floor is just waiting on the plumber. Our workers have enjoyed the warmth of our new furnaces this winter! AC units haven't been installed yet. Stars are being painted in the sanctuary ceiling! We are waiting for he wood flooring to arrive, should be here next week. Lift was installed and being used by workers...this will be so nice for our parishioners & guests! Altars are being constructed off site. Total contents will be ordered soon!
Basement.... newly remodel kitchen is in the works! Painting is mostly done also. Ceiling tiles have been installed with LED lights throughout. Bathrooms are being remodeled.
This is just some of the projects needed yet!
So, as you can see, there's been a lot going on to get our beautiful church opened back up!

Today is Father's death anniversary.....may he be resting in his Father's peace!

What a day to celebrate Sacred Heart Church! December 18, 1924 - December 18, 2024! Sacred Heart Church was dedicated 100 years ago today! We are so grateful for the sacrifices our ancestors did to make this church so beautiful. Now, we are in the process of restoring it! If you remember, we started in 2023 - we were almost ready to have Mass again and then the devasting fire occurred October 12, 2023. With the help of so many people, we are getting closer to once again having Mass in there.
We celebrated this morning with holy Mass in the funeral home chapel then went over to Dick's Place for rolls & coffee!
Please continue to pray for our beautiful Sacred Heart Church!
