Tonight, Gray Pond Baptist Church voted to call Preacher Randy Strickland as our Pastor. What a blessing and a responsibility, and we are excited to see what God has in store for our church in the days ahead.

Congratulations to Preacher Randy and his entire family. We know that when God calls a man to lead a church, his family walks alongside him, prays with him, sacrifices with him, and shares in both the joys and burdens of ministry.

Our prayer is that God would put a mighty hedge of protection around Preacher Randy his wife Kim and his family, give him wisdom beyond his own understanding, and keep his heart firmly fixed on Christ. May he always stand faithfully on the Word of God—preaching it in season and out of season—and may we as a church faithfully pray for him, encourage him, and labor alongside him.

A legacy of Faith!!

Today, Gray Pond Baptist Church said farewell to a man who gave us twenty-seven years of his life — Pastor Horace Oxendine and his beloved wife, Sister Sophia Oxendine and family.

What a day it was. Family. Music. Laughter. Tears. A PowerPoint that took us down memory lane. Words of encouragement that came straight from the heart. Gifts presented and received with love. And a table full of food shared together as a church family — because that is who we are.

But today was bigger than a program and a meal.

Pastor Oxendine didn’t just preach this church. He built it — with his own hands. He ordained ministers who are now standing in pulpits of their own. He answered the call of missions through the Burnt Swamp Baptist Association faithfully and without hesitation. He sat with our families in the hardest moments of their lives and pointed them to Jesus.

And Sister Sophia — she stood beside him through every single year of it. A leader in her own right. A woman who poured herself into the women of this congregation and left every one of us better for it.

27 years. That is a legacy!

Pastor and Sister Sophia — you will forever be a part of Gray Pond Baptist Church. You are in these walls, in these pews, and in the hearts of every person who walked through these doors under your ministry.

May the power of the Lord Almighty keep you on His path, fill you heart with His Joy and His Praise always be upon your lips.

We love you. We honor you. And we thank God for you. 🏛️❤️

“Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct.”
— Hebrews 13:7

P.S.
Preacher Horace didn’t move away, they still have the same numbers and address. We will all be in touch ❤️🙌🏻

We wrapped up Vacation Bible School tonight, and what a blessing it has been! Our kids brought the energy, the parents brought the candy, I mean love 🙂, and together we made some memories that will last well beyond this week. 🍕🎉

From Pizza to dance moves to joyful noise — every night reminded us why we do this. Watching our children learn, laugh, and grow in faith is one of the greatest gifts a church family can share.

To every child who came ready to have fun and hear God’s Word — you did amazing. To every parent who showed up and showed out — we see you (and we’re a little proud of you too 😄).

This week our hearts have been anchored in the truth of John 8:12 —

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
— Jesus

May that Light stay with each of you long after VBS is over. Thank you, Gray Pond family, for making this week shine! ☀️🙏

Day 2 of 3:
The energy is HIGH and the kids are shining bright as we dive deeper into our theme — Jesus is the Light of the World! 💡✨

📖 “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” — John 8:12

We’re SO grateful for every child, volunteer, and family making this week unforgettable. There’s still one more day — don’t miss it! 🙌

🗓️ VBS continues TOMORROW — see you there!
