The highlighted church member of the day is Brandy Gross.

Brandy faithfully serves in many roles: pastor’s wife, mom, daughter, friend, and whatever else is needed at the moment. She works as an insurance representative with State Farm and has enjoyed the opportunity to minister to people and be a testimony for the Lord through her work.

When asked about hobbies, Brandy would probably say she doesn’t have many, although she does enjoy shopping from time to time. Much of her time is spent serving others and caring for the needs around her.

At church, Brandy is often a “gap filler.” She is willing to step in wherever help is needed. She has learned the importance of delegating responsibilities to capable people, but she is never hesitant to lend a hand herself when called upon. Her servant’s heart and willingness to help behind the scenes are a blessing to the ministry.

Please pray for Brandy’s health and strength in the days ahead. Also remember her in prayer as she helps care for her mother during a time of sickness. Pray that the Lord will give her wisdom, grace, and renewed strength as she continues to serve both her family and her church.

The Lord Will Perfect It

Text: Psalm 138:8 (KJV)

“The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.”

David closes Psalm 138 with a statement of confidence, not in himself, but in God. He had faced enemies, troubles, and uncertainties, yet he believed that God was still at work in his life. The word perfect means to complete, accomplish, or bring to fulfillment. David was saying, “God is not finished with me yet.”

There are times when we look at our circumstances and wonder how everything will work out. We see unfinished business, unanswered prayers, and ongoing struggles. Yet God sees the completed picture. What concerns us is not hidden from Him. Every burden, every heartache, every need, and every prayer is known by the Lord.

Notice that David’s confidence is rooted in God’s mercy: “thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever.” If God’s faithfulness depended on us, we would have reason to fear. But His mercy is everlasting. The same God who began the work is the God who continues the work.

David ends with a prayer: “forsake not the works of thine own hands.” He recognizes that he belongs to God. The Lord created him, called him, and cared for him. What God starts, He does not abandon.

Perhaps today you feel like your life is incomplete or your situation is unresolved. Remember that God is still working. The chapter may not be finished, but the Author is still writing. Trust Him to perfect that which concerneth you.

Hailey has been in church all of her life and has used her talents to serve the Lord faithfully. She plays the guitar and helps with special music at church, using her gifts to glorify God and encourage others through worship.

If you ask Hailey about her life, she will tell you that the journey has not always been easy. Seven years ago, she faced a life-changing circumstance when she lost her leg. Yet through every trial, God has proven Himself faithful. His grace has sustained her, His strength has carried her, and His presence has remained constant. Hailey’s testimony is a reminder that even in life’s most difficult valleys, God never abandons His children.

As a church family, please pray for Hailey as she seeks God’s will concerning a future mate. Pray that the Lord would direct her steps, give her wisdom, and bring His perfect plan to pass in His perfect timing.

Also pray for a practical need in her life. Hailey is in need of a new wheelchair that can be broken down more easily, allowing her greater independence and mobility. Pray that God will provide this need according to His timing and through His provision.

The Blessing of Unity

Psalm 133:1-3

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!”

Unity is one of God’s greatest blessings for His people. David did not merely say that unity is good; he said it is both good and pleasant. It is good because it honors God and fulfills His desire for His children. It is pleasant because it brings joy, peace, and strength to those who experience it.

David compared unity to the precious anointing oil that was poured upon Aaron the high priest. This oil represented God’s approval, presence, and blessing. Just as the oil flowed from Aaron’s head down to the skirts of his garments, unity has a way of spreading throughout a family, a church, or a community. When God’s people walk together in love, His blessings flow freely among them.

David also compared unity to the dew of Hermon. In a land where moisture was precious, dew brought refreshment and life. Unity refreshes weary hearts, strengthens relationships, and creates an atmosphere where spiritual growth can flourish. Division drains energy and joy, but unity brings life.

The psalm closes with the powerful statement, “for there the Lord commanded the blessing.” God has always delighted in blessing a people who are united around Him. While we may not always agree on every detail, we can choose to walk in love, extend grace, and keep Christ at the center of our relationships.

Today, consider whether you are helping to build unity or contributing to division. A kind word, a forgiving spirit, and a humble heart can go a long way toward preserving the unity that God loves and blesses.

Today’s highlighted church member is Matthew Gross.

Matthew has been in church all of his life—even from his mother’s womb. While he may not be the loudest person in the room, Matthew is always paying attention. He is the kind of person who quietly observes, listens, and serves where needed.

Over the years, Matthew has used his talents and abilities to help the work of the Lord in many ways. Whether it has been working on heating and air systems, cutting grass, installing monitors in the sanctuary, or taking care of countless other tasks, Matthew has consistently been willing to lend a hand.

Outside of church, Matthew enjoys spending time fishing and hunting with his beagles. Those who know him appreciate his steady nature and willingness to help when there is a need.

As a church family, please pray for Matthew and his family. Pray that God would give him wisdom, guidance, and clear direction for the days ahead. Pray that the Lord would continue to bless his life, strengthen his faith, and use him for His glory.

Blessed Because of His Presence

Text: 1 Chronicles 26:5 (KJV)

“Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth: for God blessed him.”

At first glance, this verse seems like nothing more than a list of names. Yet tucked away at the end is a powerful statement: “for God blessed him.” The man being referenced is Obed-edom, the same man who welcomed the ark of God into his house when others were afraid of it.

When the ark remained in Obed-edom’s home, the Bible says that God blessed him and all that he had. Years later, the evidence of that blessing could still be seen. His family had grown, his sons were serving the Lord, and his descendants were known for their strength and faithfulness.

God’s blessings often leave a lasting legacy. Obed-edom’s greatest blessing was not simply having eight sons; it was seeing his family involved in the work of God. The presence of God in his home influenced generations that followed.

Many people seek God’s hand, but Obed-edom welcomed God’s presence. When we make room for the Lord in our homes, our hearts, and our daily lives, His influence extends far beyond us. The decisions we make for God today can affect our children, grandchildren, and others we may never meet.

The world measures success by possessions and accomplishments. God often measures blessing by faithfulness, service, and a godly legacy.

Consider:

* Is God’s presence welcome in your home?
* What kind of spiritual legacy are you building?
* Will future generations be helped because of your walk with God today?

Devotional: “That Which Doth Cost Me Nothing”

Scripture: 2 Samuel 24:24 (KJV)

“Neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the LORD my God of that which doth cost me nothing.”

David had sinned by numbering the people, and God sent judgment upon Israel. When the time came to build an altar and seek God’s mercy, Araunah offered David everything he needed free of charge. The king could have accepted the gift and proceeded with the sacrifice. Instead, David insisted on paying the full price.

Why? Because David understood that worship involves sacrifice.

Many people want the blessings of God without the burden of commitment. We want victory without prayer, spiritual growth without Bible study, and rewards without service. Yet the greatest things in the Christian life often come at a cost. Time spent with God costs time. Serving others costs energy. Giving faithfully costs resources. Forgiveness costs pride. Obedience costs self-will.

David knew that if his sacrifice cost him nothing, it would mean very little to him. He was not trying to earn God’s favor; he was expressing the value he placed on God.

The same principle applies today. The Lord is not impressed by what is easy for us to give. He looks at the heart behind the gift, the service, and the sacrifice. The widow’s two mites meant more than the abundance of others because she gave sacrificially.

Most importantly, remember that our salvation came at an immeasurable cost. It is free to us, but it cost Jesus His life on Calvary. Every blessing we enjoy today was purchased by His precious blood.

When we consider what Christ gave for us, no sacrifice we make for Him is too great.

Today we are highlighting Emma Gross.

Emma has faithfully attended church all her life and has been involved in many areas of ministry through the years. She has a background in singing, sign language, soul-winning, and Christian education. Her willingness to serve and use her talents for the Lord has been a blessing to many.

Emma has a special love for animals and enjoys caring for them. In fact, she has quite a few animals of her own and currently works at Petsense, where she gets to spend her days around something she truly enjoys. One of her goals is to work more directly and hands-on with animals in the future.

Most importantly, As a church family, let’s lift her up in prayer. Pray that the Lord would guide her steps, open doors according to His will, and grant the desires of her heart. God knows every burden, dream, and request she carries. Also remember to pray for her family, that they would experience God’s blessings, protection, and grace in their lives.

Today’s highlighted church member is Ramona Sessoms.

Ms. Ramona is, without a doubt, one of the most loving and positive people you will ever meet. She has a genuine love for people and treats everyone with kindness and compassion. If you’ve ever met her, you know that you’ll likely be greeted with a warm hug, a friendly handshake, and a sincere question about how you’re doing. If you’ve missed a service, she’ll be one of the first to tell you, “We missed you,” and she’ll always encourage you with a cheerful, “See you Sunday!”

One of the things that stands out most about Ramona is that she carries a song in her heart wherever she goes. Her joyful spirit and encouraging attitude are a blessing to everyone around her. She is always willing to help wherever there is a need in the church, serving faithfully and quietly.

Perhaps most importantly, Ramona has a desire to know the Lord better. She takes time to read her Bible and pray, even when there are passages she may not fully understand. Her faithfulness reminds us that spiritual growth comes from consistently spending time with God and trusting Him to teach us through His Word.

Please join us in praying for Ramona today. Pray especially for her family and for her church, as these are the things that are closest to her heart. Pray that God will continue to strengthen, encourage, and bless her as she continues to be a light and encouragement to so many others.

Protecting the Light

Text: 2 Samuel 21:17 (KJV)

“But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succoured him, and smote the Philistine, and killed him. Then the men of David sware unto him, saying, Thou shalt go no more out with us to battle, that thou quench not the light of Israel.”

There was a time when David charged into battle and defeated giants. But in this passage, age and weariness had caught up with him. David grew faint, and a giant saw an opportunity to strike. Had it not been for Abishai stepping in to help, the outcome could have been tragic.

After the battle, David’s men made a remarkable statement. They called David “the light of Israel.” They understood that if the king fell, the nation would suffer. The light needed to be protected.

Every child of God carries a light. Jesus said, “Ye are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). Your testimony, your influence, and your witness for Christ are valuable. The enemy would love nothing more than to extinguish that light through discouragement, compromise, bitterness, or sin.

Notice that God used Abishai to protect David. Sometimes the Lord sends faithful friends, family members, pastors, or church members into our lives to encourage us when we are weary. We all need an Abishai from time to time.

Today, guard your walk with God. Protect your testimony. Stay in His Word, remain faithful in prayer, and be thankful for those God uses to strengthen you. The light God has given you is meant to shine brightly for His glory.
