Our group has remained very active since its birth in November 2022. We went to the enchanted lights in Laurie Park, went to Boonville to see the Clydesdale horses, attended 3 movies: A Man Named Otto, Jesus Revelation, Are you there God? it's me, Margarett. All shows were really great, luncheon at Willows, and fish fry at the catholic church.

We met on Friday May 19th. Everyone was busy playing a game of some sort, except Betty Greenley, she just enjoys watching and being around people. Would like to welcome a new member Kathy Carlton who came with Julie. She is a hoot to be around she livens things up. Was also excited to see Carol Easter attend the meeting.

We finalized the details of the camping trip that begins this Tuesday YEAH…. If anyone plans to come out for the day, we are asking you to bring a sack lunch. Thank you, Sharon Vest, for the cookies you brought to the meeting they were great! She left the remaining cookies for us to take camping, it is greatly appreciated.

We are sorry to see that Nancy Milburn is not able to stay the 2 nights but will try to come out for the afternoon on Wednesday.

Looking forward to our trip to Cole Camp June 2nd we will do a little shopping then have dinner at German Table restaurant.

Merry Widows originated on November 4th, 2022. We have 2 meetings a month on the 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. We currently have 27 active members, and there are an additional 22 members who are interested in being apart of the group.

Since the start of our group, some of us have attended the following activities: Enchanted Christmas Lights, Warm Springs Ranch, Movie Theater “A Man Named Otto”, Lunch at Willow’s Restaurant, Movie Theater “Jesus Revolution”, and Fish Fry at St Patrick’s Church.

We have scheduled a camping trip to Bennett Springs in May, and we are currently making plans to visit the Jeff City Prison and the Gold Star memorial, and a luncheon at a German Restaurant in Cole Camp, MO.

I would like to plan a trip to Brandon to Site and Sound Theater later this summer to see Queen Esther. There are many interests within our group that we meet the needs of anyone interests.

If you are interested in joining our group, we meet at West Lake Christian Church on the first and third Friday of every month from 1-5. We have the 4-hour window making it possible for everyone to have an opportunity to come during that time frame. We know people have busy lifestyles and commitments to doctor appointments, family coming to town etc.

Look forward to seeing you soon.

Merry Widows met today at West Lake Christian Church. Most all had green on. I think Judy and Coleen had the most while Martha ran third place. Those in an attendance were: Cindy Diehl, Coleen Modglin, Judy Tookey, Marilyn Rothove, Martha Bultemeier, Sharon Vest, Sherry Haase, and I would like to extend a hearty welcome to our newest guest Connie Gilliland. We look forward to seeing her again.

I would like to shout out to those who could not attend today due to illness: Barbara Byers, Betty Greenley, Shirley Scott, and Pauline Rivera, I hope you are all feeling better very soon.

Today was a great day to just sit around and talk. Coleen said it would be a great idea to have 1 question each meeting that everyone goes around the room to give an answer. That is a way we can get to know one another and learn there maybe someone there that has the same interests as you do. Today we found that 2 of the ladies there do not care to play cards but would rather sit and talk. We have several ladies that feel the same way, so the idea is to get them connected.

Connie has said she loves camping and has been added to the list of those attending a camping trip in May.

Next meeting will be April 7th and snacks will be provided by Martha Bultemeier and Karen Dobbins.

I hope everyone has a happy and safe St. Patrick’s Day.

Merry Widows met Friday for cards and conversation, it was a great time. Thank you, Julie, and Barb, for the wonderful snacks.

Those in attendance were Barb, Betty G, Betty S, Julie, Sherry, Marilyn, Cindy, Carroll, Ruth, Nancy M, Becky K and Martha.

We discussed the camping trip in May and Nancy has 1 cabin and a camp site for the camper secured for May 23 and 24. There will be 6 total (Nancy M, Julie, Marilyn, Carroll, Sherry, and Barb) who plan to camp out for 2 days and nights. Looking forward to it the peace and quiet, good conversation and oh yes trout fishing!

I have ordered name tags for those who have been coming to the meetings. I will order the other name tags when I hear from you that they would like one. Name tags are $5.00, so just let me know if want me to order one for you. Starting in May we will decide which church we want to visit and will attend as a group. Hopefully we will peak the interests of other widows who would like to join our group.

Other discussions during the meeting for future events: A luncheon in Cole Camp at the German Restaurant, a trip to Jefferson City to visit the Prison and Gold Star Memorial. Keep these in mind for the next meeting so we can plan a date and time to go for those interested. I would like to plan a trip to Branson for later this summer like August or September to see Queen Esther at Site and Sound Theater.

Nancy M asked if there was anyone who would like to attend Saint Patrick Church Fish Fry. Nancy, Marilyn, Sherry, and Barb went and had a wonderful dinner. They seriously fill your plate. We had 4-5 pieces of fish, or baked fillets, green beans and carrots, choice of Mac and cheese or fries or both, cornbread, coleslaw, dessert, and drink. If you walked away hungry it is because you didn't finish your dinner.

Prayers go out to Pauline Rivera and Naomi Turner as this is the anniversary month of the loss of their spouse.

Just a quick note to let you know that you were missed to Judy T, Coleen M, Pauline R, Naomi T, Shirley S, Beth M.

Our next meeting will be March 17th. Snacks will be provided by Cindy D and Sherry H. Hope to see you there.
