The puppets came out for our town's Summer Celebration, along with children's activities in the park β€” and things got educational, patriotic, and just a little bit explosive. πŸŽ†πŸŽ Let’s recap for fun:

The puppet cast:
🎀 John & Kelly β€” already at the picnic grounds, killing time with a game of Famous Quotes
πŸ˜‡ Joey β€” about to get an unexpected history lesson and discover just how faith-filled America's founders really were
😈 Willie β€” the mischievous one, with BIG plans to make sure the 4th ends with a proper... bang πŸ’₯

While they waited for Willie and Joey to show up at the picnic, John and Kelly played Famous Quotes β€” and what started as a simple game turned into a fascinating window into the faith of America's founding fathers.

Did you know that many of the men who shaped this nation were men who feared God, read the Bible, and credited their Creator with the freedoms they were fighting for? Joey found out.

And Willie? Well. Willie had his own plans for the celebration. We'll just say the ending had a proper patriotic bang to it and leave it at that. πŸ˜„πŸŽ‡

This was living history, big laughs, and a gospel-rooted look at America's Christian heritage β€” all delivered by puppets. Because honestly, puppets make everything better.

And if a puppet ministry is one of your interests - come check us out!

Here's something worth stopping for today.

Think about the thing you most regret. The one you replay. The one that surfaces at 2 a.m. when everything is quiet. The one you've confessed a hundred times and still pick back up and carry.

Now read this slowly:

"He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west." β€” Psalm 103:12

Here's what makes this verse extraordinary.

David didn't say north from south. That's a fixed, measurable distance β€” the north pole to the south pole is about 12,400 miles. You could calculate it. You could arrive at a number.

He said east from west.

East from west has no end point. Start heading east and you will never stop being east. There is no place on earth where east becomes west. It is an infinite, immeasurable, uncloseable distance.

That is how far God has removed your sin.

Not filed away where He might retrieve it later. Not moved to another room. Removed β€” cast β€” as far as infinity allows. The cross didn't just cover your sin. It relocated it to a distance that has no number.

And here's what that means practically:

When the enemy whispers "remember what you did" β€” he's referring to something God has already thrown into a direction that never ends.

When the guilt comes back around β€” it is not coming from God. He is not the one reminding you. He is the one who said "as far as the east is from the west." He meant it.

When you feel like you've used up your forgiveness β€” you haven't. His mercy is renewed every morning (Lamentations 3:23), and His forgiveness travels further than any regret you could carry.

You are not defined by what God has already removed that day you gave Jesus your yes.

Walk free. πŸ•ŠοΈ

Why do so many people keep Jesus at a distance even when they know something is missing in their life?

"This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed."β€” John 3:19–20

These verses get honest about it. It's not that people haven't heard. It's not that the evidence isn't there. It's that light is uncomfortable when you've been living in the dark. Coming into it means being seen β€” and being seen can feel terrifying when you're carrying shame.

Most of us have been there. Maybe you're there right now. There's something in your life β€” a habit, a hurt, a secret β€” and the thought of bringing it into the open feels like too much. So you stay just far enough away from God to avoid the conversation.

But here's what these verses don't say: they don't say the light punishes what it exposes. That's the fear β€” but it's not the gospel. Jesus is the light that came to save, not to shame (John 3:17). What He exposes, He can also heal.

You don't have to have it sorted before you come to Him. You just have to come. πŸŒ…

Our church in Laurens is full of people who stepped into the light and found grace waiting. We'd love for you to experience that too.

"Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God's one and only Son." β€” John 3:18

This verse doesn't mince words β€” and that's actually a gift.

John 3:18 draws a clear line, but notice where the line falls. Condemnation isn't something God hands out to people who mess up, struggle, or have a complicated history with faith. It's the natural condition of a world that hasn't yet turned toward the rescue that's already been offered.

The word "already" is key. Jesus didn't arrive to start a new system of judgment β€” He arrived because one existed, and He came to get us out of it.

Belief in Jesus isn't a religious performance. It's trust β€” trusting that what He did on the cross was real, that it was for you, and that His name is the one worth staking your life on.

If you've never placed that trust in Him, today is a good day. Not someday. Today. The door is open. ✝️

We'd love to talk more about what that step looks like β€” in person on Sundays, or right here in the comments.

06/11/2026

Jesus didn't come to condemn. A lot of people keep their distance from God because they're expecting judgment. They figure if they walked through the doors of a church β€” or got honest with Jesus β€” the first thing they'd hear is a verdict on everything they've done wrong.

But verse 17 tells a different story.

"For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him." β€” John 3:17 (NIV)

Jesus didn't come as a prosecutor. He came as a rescuer. The mission wasn't condemnation β€” it was salvation. He stepped into this world not to hold our failures over us, but to take them from us.

That's the heartbeat of the gospel: God looked at a broken world and said, I'm going in after them.

If you've been carrying shame or keeping God at arm's length, this verse is for you. You don't have to have it all together to come to Jesus. That's actually the whole point. πŸ™Œ

We'd love to see you this Sunday in Laurens β€” no perfect record required.
