First Church of God Laurel, Mississippi··
Begun in 1909 as a congregation of the Church of God Reformation Movement.

The Laurel First Church of God still maintains its historic affiliation with the Churches of God, Anderson, IN. We teach and believe in the unity of all believers in Jesus. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. (Ephesians 4:5). We believe that “Grace is Greater than Race.” (Mission Mississippi). There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for yo

u are all one in Christ Jesus. If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise. (Galatians 3:28-29). We believe in the power of unity to bear witness to the world that Jesus is the Christ (John 17:21).

In the first book of the Bible, in the first chapter, it says we are all made in His image. All of us. Racism shatters the beauty of God’s creation and seeks to destroy God’s image. Racism is sin. Love your neighbors.

4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us?
6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”
10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
Galatians 5:22-26 💛

"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and, love your neighbor as yourself.”

The Good Samaritan

25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”
26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

27 He answered, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”

29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he was attacked by robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.”
