*Urgent Humanitarian Appeal for Flood-Affected Christian Communities in Pakistan*
*Introduction*
A devastating monsoon season has ravaged Pakistan, particularly Punjab, leaving over 2 million people affected and more than 700,000 evacuated. Among the most vulnerable are pregnant women, children, and families who have lost their homes, livelihoods, and access to basic necessities. In the face of this humanitarian crisis, we are reaching out to compassionate donors for financial assistance to provide immediate relief and support to 250 Christian families in dire need.
*Scope of the Crisis*
The recent floods have claimed 849 lives and injured 1,130 people nationwide since June 26. The affected regions are grappling with severe shortages of food, clean water, sanitation facilities, and medical care. Pregnant women and children are disproportionately affected, with many lacking access to essential healthcare services.
*Unique Challenges Faced by Christian Communities*
While many organizations are providing aid to the general population, our focus is on serving the most vulnerable Christian communities who are often denied assistance due to their faith. These families are left helpless and hopeless, with limited access to basic necessities. Our mission is to honor humanity, with a special concern for the body of Christ, and to provide critical support to those who are often overlooked.
*Proposed Intervention*
To alleviate the suffering of these families, we propose the following interventions:
1. *Groceries Package for 250 Families*
- Each family will receive a PKR 5,000 (approximately $18 USD) groceries package to meet their basic food needs.
- Total cost for 250 families: PKR 1,250,000 (approximately $4,500 USD).
2. *Medical Camps*
- We plan to organize 15 medical camps in different flood-affected areas to provide essential healthcare services, including maternal care and first aid.
- Each medical camp will cost approximately $300 USD.
- Total cost for 15 medical camps: $4,500 USD.
*Medical Aid and Medicines Requirements*
For the medical camps, we will provide the following essential medicines and supplies:
1. Antibiotics and painkillers for wound care and pain management
2. IV fluids and saline solutions for dehydration treatment
3. Maternal health supplies, including prenatal vitamins and safe delivery kits
4. First aid kits with bandages, gauze, and antiseptic solutions
5. Medications for chronic conditions, such as diabetes and hypertension
6. Water purification tablets and hygiene supplies to prevent waterborne diseases
*Special Focus on Pregnant Women and Sanitation Needs*
We recognize the critical needs of pregnant women in this crisis. Our medical camps will prioritize maternal healthcare, and we will ensure the availability of essential supplies for safe deliveries. Additionally, we will work to improve sanitation facilities, including the construction of temporary latrines and provision of clean drinking water.
