Do You Suffer From IATROPHOBIA?
For some people, the idea of stepping into A DOCTOR’S office stirs up intense apprehension. This unease can escalate into a pronounced psychological condition known as ISTROPHOBIA. The term is rooted in the Greek words ISTROS, which means DOCTOR or HEALER, and the Greek word PHOBOS, which means FEAR. Combine the words and it pictures THOSE WHO HARBOR AN INTENSE DREAD OF DOCTORS OR MEDICAL PROCEDURES. It invokes significant anxiety!
There’s only a few ways to deal with it and they’re not easy.
1. Go anyway! Go afraid and keep going until it leaves. I wish I had an easy answer for you, but fear only dies when IT IS CONSISTENTLY CONFRONTED! But, the good news is, IT DOES DIE!
2. Take someone who strengthens you. We need each other. We can help each other. A good relative or friend who comforts and strengthens you can make a good ally against fears, worries, and anxiety. I’ve had more than one of the members of my church tell me, “All my fears left when I heard my Pastor’s voice.” That blesses me to be that voice of victory for them.
3. Tell your doctor. Be honest with him or her. Tell them you suffer from white coat hypertension. They’ll probably take about 10 points off your systolic blood pressure when you have your BP checked in their office.
4. Come to the Healing Conference Sunday August 2nd through the 5th. Sitting under the true teachings of the Word drives our all fears!
