Funeral for John Shwed

Because of the expected crowds and our limited parking availability at St. Philip’s, we have arranged for shuttle service for John’s funeral tomorrow morning from Laurel Elementary Center (Evergreen Dr. off of S. Central Ave.) beginning at 10 AM and continuing until 11 AM. Return service will begin at 12:30 PM and end at 2:00 PM. Parking is free and there is no charge for the shuttle. The shuttle bus is not handicap accessible, so please plan accordingly.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Shwed on Sunday afternoon, August 2. He died peacefully at home after a brief illness.
John’s funeral service will be held on Friday, August 7 at 11:00 AM at St. Philip’s Church. A repast will follow the service in Memorial Hall.
John has been a pillar of St. Philip’s Church for many years, having served on vestry and many other committees in the parish. As the former mayor of Laurel, John was involved in many civic organizations in the community. He will be greatly missed!
Please keep his daughters Susan and Nancy and his extended family in your prayers.
May John’s memory be a true blessing and may he rest in the eternal peace of God’s loving presence.
