Today, 25 years after the tragedy of September 11, 2001, our hearts still are reminded of the weight of that day. Time moves on, but the painful memories and the profound loss remain deeply felt across our nation and in our homes. Yet, even in the shadow of unthinkable heartbreak, light broke through. We saw extraordinary courage in first responders who gave everything, unconditional love in strangers helping strangers, and a faith that bound a grieving country together as one.
In our moments of deepest heartache, God draws near. Psalm 34:18 reminds us that “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” Today, we pray for the tears still shed, for the empty seats at family tables, and for the brave men and women who continue to protect our freedoms. We pray for our country to stand united as one nation under God, grounded in peace and grace… We will never forget the lives lost. We will always remember the heroes who carried us through. And we will forever be reminded that the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it! Amen
