Stephen was a faithful follower of Jesus who was martyred for speaking the truth of God’s Word. As we look at his story, we’re reminded that we will face hardship as we follow Jesus. But, in our circumstances, we can take comfort in knowing that we are not alone. God is with us!

Yesterday, we took time during our service to commission and pray over our students and teachers as they return to school.

One of our members, Kathy Breshears, taught Japanese at Silverado High School for 28 years! We asked her, “What did it mean to you as an educator to be prayed for and commissioned back to your school by Hope?” Here’s what she shared:

“Teaching can be quite stressful and emotionally challenging. Knowing I was seen, supported by God, and lifted up by my church family provided great encouragement and a solid foundation for me as an educator. Being intentionally commissioned at the start of the school year definitely helped me choose love and grace on hard days in the classroom. Thank you, Hope Church, for prayerfully standing for those in all fields of education.”

Teachers and students, we love you and are praying for God’s grace, strength, and guidance as you begin a new school year.
