I have the most rewarding job . After being a stay at home mom and grandmother for 20 plus years , God hand picked a job that He has been grooming me for all those years . I’m still taking care of people , I feel like they are family.
I get to meet the most generous and loving people who come and bring food for 120 people , six days a week for the past 20 years . Different church groups , businesses , friends and even a restaurant owner , Greens and Protein brings food twice a month . One church , Green Valley United Methodist Church sends a amazing group in 4 times a month to feed and care for our guests and then also helps with extra days that we have no one coming in. My dear friends Susan and Joe Schuler took on one day a month and even fills in holes in my calendar . Not only that they make snack bags for me to hand out to people who knock on our door during the day , hungry . Green Valley Presbyterian Church comes with a wonderful meal and sets up in our parking lot to hand out toiletries and so much more to our guests . What a amazing blessing for all.
My friends and neighbors are so giving of toiletries and lots of other items for the guest that come and see me daily. I serve Veterans , Seniors , Homeless and families that just can’t make ends meet . I feel like a mother on Christmas morning when I can go in my back room and bring back the item one of my guests need, like a pair of socks, a blanket , reading glasses and so on .
What I also love about my day are the church bells I get to hear all day long . We lease the kitchen and dining hall at St Timothy’s Episcopal church. I love being in the Lords house everyday.
All people need to be reminded they are God’s children , as we are and worthy of love and respect .
I feel so grateful and Blessed to be apart of a big family , Friends In The Desert . ❤️🛐❤️
Everyday I know in my heart , God is in this place .
