Underwater
Maybe you missed the flooding from the recent hurricane. But perhaps, you’ve gone through a rough time in other ways. You owe more on the mortgage than your home now worth, or underwater. Your pension disappeared with the financial meltdown, and the company you worked for went bankrupt. Your marriage fell apart, or your kids stopped talking to you for no good reason. Your heart starts acting up, and you find yourself short of breath. These tough experiences make you feel that you're underwater.
Ancient Israelites passed through some very difficult waters. The nation fell apart before their very eyes. First the northern kingdom fell to the Assyrians, and later the southern kingdom, Judah, fell to the Babylonians. It’s time live in the land of hope, faith and expectation. Dwell on God’s promises. Every time you declare God’s faithfulness, you take a step in the right direction. As you turn your focus toward Him, you dwell in the Land of Hope, a land where His peace, blessing and victory reside.
Today’s Scripture
Psalm 46:1-3
"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."
A Prayer for Today
"Father, thank You for ordering and directing my steps. Thank You for taking me to the land of hope. I choose to set my mind on You. When the waters roar and surge over me, I pray for my faith and not lose my soul. No matter how underwater I feel, my faith carries me home. I release the past and invite You to fill me with Your peace, blessing and victory in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen."
