Baha'i Blog On July 9th 1850, the Bab, the forerunner to Baha’u’llah, was executed in Tabriz, Persia by a firing squad of 750 men. The Bab, which means “the Gate” in Arabic, was a Messenger of God whose role was to herald the coming of the latest Manifestation of God: Baha’u’llah. In 1909, after being hidden away for more than half a century, the Bab’s remains were finally interred on Mount Carmel, Israel.

Today we celebrate the 12th Day of Ridván, the conclusion of those sacred 12 days marking Bahá’u’lláh’s departure from the garden and the beginning of his long exile to Constantinople. Baha’is celebrate this day as the start of their faith and as a symbol of renewal, peace, and Baha’u’llah’s vision of unity and progress for all people.

"In the arrival and departure of the Ancient Beauty, the signs and tokens of God were made clear and evident, and the light of Revelation was made to shine forth in the plenitude of its glory. Verily, His majesty was exalted, His power magnified, and His sovereignty revealed."

As this joyous festival comes to a close, we reflect on the journey of transformation and the call to build vibrant, unified communities wherever we are.
