Jazaakumullahu Khairan for all your support of the MSA this semester! We truly appreciate you volunteering of your time and effort towards this cause and we look for to your continued interest, efforts, and ideas going into this new year and the Spring 2019 semester inshaAllah!

We wish you all the very best during this finals week and hope you have a rejuvenating and enjoyable winter break - and we can't wait to catch up with y'all when we return :) Keep us in your dua'as and you all are in ours!

*Update from the SGA Re. Toiletry Drive*

SGA's goal is to donate at least 100 packaged bags to the Horizon Homeless Shelter, located in D.C.

In order for your club to participate:

- At least half of the members donate a minimum of $5 of items

- At least half of the members participate in the packaging event for at least 30 mins.

Donation Items Needed:

TRAVEL SIZE ONLY

mouthwash

lotion

soap

shampoo

conditioner

***Packaging Event:

Nov. 14 from 3pm-5pm in the Club Suite.

Students will be writing on care cards or placing items in the bags. ***

** Service Opportunity ** The PGCC SGA is hosting a drive to collect toiletries for distribution to those in need! We have been given the opportunity to collaborate with them and need to collect items from at least half of the active members of the MSA as well as contribute at least half an hour of our time to packaging the items; the following list contains the items we have been assigned to get:
- 18 hand sanitizers (3 oz.)
- 10 shampoos (3 oz.)
- 10 conditioners (3 oz.)
(The Dollar Store should have all of these 🙂)

The deadline for drop offs at the SGA office in the Largo Student Center club area is November 16th. If you contribute, do meet with one of the officers to sign in your name and organization 😊

Jazaakumullahu Khairan, thank you so, so much to all our volunteers and supporters for making this year's Club Fair booth absolutely amazing! We had a mission this year to embody the Hadith (narration) of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, when he said, "To smile in the face of your brother is charity." (At Tirmidhi) - we launched a campaign at our table called where participants had to write a note of gratitude to someone special in their lives who they appreciated! We shared heartfelt stories, cherished loved ones, and even shed a tear or two (one young lady wrote a note of gratitude to a friend of hers that had passed away ❤). Alhamdulillah for the beautiful moments we shared and the connections we made! May Allah accept our efforts! And don't forget, keep smiling y'all, its the Sunnah 😁

The Muslim Youth of North America organization is looking for counselors ages 20+ for a spring break camp in Maryland with the theme: Remembering Malcolm X. Camp is from Apr. 6 - 8th.
Gain experience mentoring youth as camp counselors as we gather together to spend time learning about a legacy that has shaped our Muslim American identity.
Camp is for everyone! Ages 12-19: register as campers, ages 20 and above: apply to be a counselor.

The two most important people in our lives are our parents. Without them, we may not even be in college. As we zoom through our lives we often (unfortunately) forget about the struggle and hardship they have endured for us. Parents are a great blessing! Unfortunately, there are those who do not have this blessing. The Prince George's Community College Muslim Student Association is collecting funds for these orhans. These funds will go Islamic Relief USA, an organization that helps collect those funds and distributes them to the orphans in need.

We are collecting Donations to complete our 2nd Community Service on our next meeting Wednesday Nov 15th forThe Warm Nights/Bridges of Hope Shelter Program that is operated by Prince George’s County Community Crisis Services. They need the following items for their shelter guests: new or gently used bath towels, washcloths, pillowcases, twin size flat sheets and laundry detergents.
