LaPorte New Church We are a Christian church in our worship and love of Jesus Christ as God. We encourage the spirit of

We believe that...
◦the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God.
◦the Word of God has many layers of meaning.
◦as we study, we find in its pages two parallel stories: the historical account of people, places and events, and also a deeper spiritual teaching within that account. Thus, the Bible is alive and fresh today; it is, in fact, our Lord speaking personally with each of us.
◦the Christian term

s Father, Son, and Holy Spirit represent different aspects of the Creator, much like our motives, thoughts, and actions.
◦the Second Coming is an on-going process that is happening within each of us and the whole world. As we allow compassion, integrity, understanding, and healing to increase in our lives, we are helping God create a "new Heaven, and a new Earth."
◦diversity is an intentional part of the beauty of God's creation.
◦we "are not saved in a moment but over a lifetime."- Helen Keller
◦all people are on a path to heaven if they intentionally live the best they know how.
◦the Lord God is a loving God who wants the best for us and plans heaven for us all... yet allows us to make choices in this life that "judge" us in the next life.
◦the sincerest form of worship is living a charitable and useful life which can be carried out in every human act, anywhere, anytime, by anyone.

The Ministry of Parents"
LaPorte New Church
812 Indiana Avenue

The glory of Heaven comes from the fact that it is assembled from the many types of service that people may perform for one another. Do you know that there are myriad ways this occurs? The most fundamental of human relationships is parenthood, which forms the basis of all of the other forms of service.

You are always welcome at LaPorte New Church. This Sunday's message is 'The Ministry of Parents' as Dell Rose, seminary student from Chicago, shares the first part of a 4-part series on human relationships, in the church sanctuary and via Zoom. As always, refreshments will be served following the service. When we gather together in harmony each week, we can connect more fully with our spiritual source and with each other. Your presence, friendship, and gifts are valued beyond measure.

LaPorte New Church, on the corner of Indiana and Maple Avenues, welcomes everyone to all 10 a.m. Sunday worship services, followed by coffee hour. Children's Sunday School is on hiatus for summer and will resume September 6.

The New Church is a warmly inclusive and inviting Christ-centered ministry for everyone on their journey to draw nearer to God, while fostering relationships that encourage mutual spiritual growth and respect.

What Remains?' at LaPorte New Church

From our earliest days—when we first felt the warmth of care, when we trusted without calculation, when we delighted in simple goodness—the Lord God was planting seeds, or remains. Every act of kindness we received, every truth that stirred our conscience, every moment we chose honesty over deceit, or compassion over indifference—these were gathered up and stored. These were, and continue to be, gifts from God and serve as our spiritual foundation for growth and regeneration

We invite you to join us this Sunday as Barbara Halle presents "What Remains?", with Bible readings from Ecclesiastes 3, Mark 4, and Luke 17. The sanctuary worship service will also be available via Zoom. When we gather together in harmony every week, we can connect more fully with our spiritual source and with each other.

Shepherd Sunday at LaPorte New Church
April 26, 2026

On this fourth Sunday of Eastertide, "The Secret of the Easy Way" will be shared by New Church seminary student, Dell Rose from Chicago. His message will focus on the deeper meanings of Genesis 7, Psalm 23, and John 10. These stories are all written in the style that corresponds and applies to our lives today. Hear how the Lord came into the world to bring everything in the heavens and everything on earth back into order, and to make His human nature divine. If this had not been done, no one could have been saved.

We welcome you to join us this Sunday for an insightful around-the-table Coffee Talk (held monthly) in the church Fellowship Hall. When we gather together each week, we can connect more fully with our spiritual source and grow in friendship, with love, wisdom, and compassion.

LaPorte New Church, on the corner of Indiana and Maple Avenues, welcomes everyone to all 10 a.m. Sunday worship services, followed by a coffee hour. Children's Sunday School is on first Sundays of the month, from September to May.

The New Church is a caring, warmly inclusive, and welcoming Christ-centered ministry for everyone on their journey to draw nearer to God while fostering relationships that encourage mutual spiritual growth.

LaPorte New Church: Growing with Earth Day
April 19, Sunday, 10am

Celebrate Earth Day with us this Sunday through a Swedenborgian lens— that 'All things of the natural world correspond to spiritual things, and from this correspondence, the natural world exists and subsists.' This reflects our spiritual connection to creation and our call to care for the Earth. A message of hope, renewal, and sacred stewardship shines through in "Tending the Garden Within and Around Us."

We welcome you to join us as New Church member Jane McFeaters will present this important and affirming message as passages from Genesis 2 and Psalm 24 are shared. When we gather together each week, we can reconnect with our spiritual source and grow in friendship, with love and wisdom.

LaPorte New Church, on the corner of Indiana and Maple Avenues, warmly welcomes everyone to this 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, followed by a coffee hour. Children's Sunday School is on first Sundays, from September to May.

Sunday Worship April 12. 10am

LaPorte New Church: After the Rooster Crowed

Great drama surrounds the Easter story. Before Good Friday, Jesus was carried away to the Roman governor Pontius Pilate. In a famous story, the disciple Peter, who was waiting through the night to hear Jesus’ fate, denied three times that he knew Jesus. After the third denial, the rooster crowed, signaling the end of the night, and Peter realized what he had done. He had denied the Man to whom he had devoted his life. Devastated by his utter failure, he went away and wept bitterly. With the crucifixion, it must have seemed to Peter like the end of his life as well as that of Jesus. But the story doesn’t end there! Jesus appeared to Peter and the other disciples after he rose from the tomb. He gave Peter a special message and a new beginning. The story of the new beginning is a special message for each of us about our capacity for resilience and recovery after failure.

We welcome you to join us as New Church member Charlotte Gyllenhaal will present this after-Easter message. When we gather together to read or listen to the Bible's Holy Word each week, we can reconnect with our spiritual source and grow in friendship, with love and wisdom.

LaPorte New Church, on the corner of Indiana and Maple Avenues, warmly welcomes everyone to this 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, followed by a coffee hour. Children's Sunday School is held on First Sundays of the month, September to May.

The New Church is a caring, inclusive, and welcoming Christ-centered ministry for everyone on their journey to draw nearer to God while fostering relationships that encourage mutual spiritual growth.

Are there vivid expressions in scripture of Christianity as a whole being unified yet diverse?

Yes! And you are warmly invited to worship with us this Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at LaPorte New Church, 812 Indiana Avenue, LaPorte, as we celebrate ecumenical Christian unity. Pastor Kit Billings will share on, “One Body, One Spirit, One Hope,” drawing from Psalm 133 and Ephesians 4:1–6 calling us to live with humility, patience, and love, “eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” In a divided world, we gather to witness that Christian unity is not sameness but beautifully diverse, sharing in the universal love of Jesus Christ. There is one body, full of many vitally needed organs, each giving life to all.

We will welcome a New Church seminary student, Dell Rose, from Chicago who will share his reflection with us on the theme, “O Lord, teach me to grow old,” a Swedenborgian approach to aging.

We refer to our discussion-style worship gathering this weekend as our “Coffee Talk” service, which means you’re welcome to enjoy a beverage during our worship time as we listen to each in a spirit of mutual support and friendship. We will meet in our downstairs Fellowship Hall and all are welcome. We offer this experience both in-person and livestream via Zoom.

How does faithful waiting shape our ability to see the Lord at work in our lives today?

Please join us this Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, 10:00 AM at LaPorte New Church (812 Indiana Ave.) as Pastor Kit Billings shares his message, “Those Who Wait in the Temple Learn to See the Light.” Following Epiphany, which focused on the visit of the Magi to Bethlehem, we come to Luke 2:36–38, introducing the Prophetess Anna, a faithful woman and elder who recognized the infant Lord Jesus not through spectacle, but through lifelong devotion. Alongside Psalm 84:1–5,10, her story reminds us that God’s presence is often revealed to those who quietly remain steadfast—through praying, serving, and loving over time. What does Anna’s character and qualities represent or symbolize for you?

You are welcome to participate in-person or livestream via Zoom. For Zoom details, email [email protected] or text 219-380-4682.
