The idea that humanity is one family invites us to think differently about the relationships, institutions, and communities that shape our lives. Reflecting on what oneness looks like in practice can help us imagine new possibilities for cooperation, belonging, and shared prosperity. Come join us this Sat June 13 from 10:30 am to Noon at Greenwood Park to celebrate our oneness.

As we consider how our choices affect those around us, meaningful conversations can deepen understanding and strengthen our capacity to build a more united world. Here are a few conversation starters to help begin those discussions.

“Oneness has profound practical implications.”

This message from the Bahá’ís of the United States invites reflection on what it means to truly recognize the oneness of humanity—not simply as an ideal, but as a principle with the power to shape how we relate to one another and build our communities.

It reminds us that prejudices of every kind distort our shared humanity and must be overcome through relationships rooted in dignity, mutual care, and genuine fellowship across differences.

At a time when division can feel overwhelming, this vision calls us to nurture communities where every person can contribute, belong, and thrive.

In this world we are influenced by two sentiments, Joy and Pain.

Joy gives us wings! In times of joy our strength is more vital, our intellect keener, and our understanding less clouded. We seem better able to cope with the world and to find our sphere of usefulness. But when sadness visits us we become weak, our strength leaves us, our comprehension is dim and our intelligence veiled. The actualities of life seem to elude our grasp, the eyes of our spirits fail to discover the sacred mysteries, and we become even as dead beings.

There is no human being untouched by these two influences; but all the sorrow and the grief that exist come from the world of matter—the spiritual world bestows only the joy! -
