We are moving off-site to Wolverine Christian Service Camp tomorrow for worship. Same time, 10:30am!

- Hillside: IMPORTANT! It is unfortunate that I need to inform everyone that the septic pumps are not working and therefore the bathrooms and sinks are inoperable at the church. We are making a last minute change and will have worship tomorrow morning at 10:30am at Wolverine Christian Service Camp. Address: 3930 Flint River Rd, Columbiaville, MI 48421. They have an air conditioned sanctuary and working bathrooms! We hope to see you there!

Proverbs 31X31 Challenge Day 10: Proverbs 10

Proverbs 10 has much wisdom on how we ought to be using our words. Here are two lists quoting the words of Proverbs 10 that have to do with righteous speech and foolish speech.

Our words should be life giving and a blessing to those around us, not something that brings ruin.

Which of these two lists most resembles your own?
What changes is God calling you to make in how you speak to others?

Righteous Speech
"The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life." (v11)
"On the lips of him who has understanding, wisdom is found." (v13)
"Whoever restrains his lips is prudent." (v19)
"The tongue of the righteous is choice silver." (v20)
"The lips of the righteous feed many." (v21)
"The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom." (v31)
"The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable." (v32)

Foolish Speech
"The mouth of the wicked conceals violence." (v6,11)
"A babbling fool will come to ruin." (v8,10)
"The mouth of a fool brings ruin near." (v14)
"The one who conceals hatred has lying lips." (v18)
"Whoever utters slander is a fool." (v18)
"When words are many, transgression is not lacking." (v19)
"The perverse tongue will be cut off." (v31)
"The mouth of the wicked, know what is perverse." (v32)

Proverbs 2:1-6
"1 My son, if you RECEIVE MY WORDS
and treasure up my commandments with you,
2 making your EAR ATTENTIVE to wisdom
and inclining your heart to understanding;
3 yes, if you CALL OUT for insight
and raise your voice for understanding,
4 if you SEEK IT like silver
and search for it as for hidden treasures,
5 THEN you WILL UNDERSTAND the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord GIVES WISDOM;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding."

It is clear from the passage that the Lord wants to give us wisdom and understanding, but in order to become people of wisdom we must Seek It, Call Out for It, Listen to It, and Receive It.

Wisdom is a gift from God but also an active pursuit. How are we actively pursuing the wisdom of the Lord and living it out? Think about that as you go throughout the rest of your day.
