Free Son Jarocho Community Workshops at Emanuel Lutheran Church
Emanuel Lutheran Church is excited to partner with En Pie de Lucha Performance to host a series of free, public Son Jarocho workshops, made possible through a grant from the City of Dallas Office of Arts and Culture.
Son Jarocho is a vibrant musical and cultural tradition from Veracruz, Mexico that brings people together through music, singing, dancing, storytelling, and community participation. More than a performance tradition, it is an invitation to build relationships across cultures and generations.
Professional musicians from Veracruz, together with local artists from En Pie de Lucha, will lead workshops in jarana, traditional singing, and zapateado (percussive dance). Instruments are provided, and no musical experience is necessary. The workshops are open to everyone—children, youth, adults, families, and neighbors of all backgrounds.
This partnership reflects Emanuel's commitment to opening its doors to the wider community, creating spaces where faith, culture, hospitality, and the arts come together for the common good.
