KI's Kivunim School
Kivunim means directions. Students have a variety of paths to follow, as they pursue Jewish learning. About Our School
We offer a parent-child preschool class that meets 1-2 times each month. This primary focus of this class is on holidays, with a few Bible stories sprinkled in. Class time includes stories, songs, movement, crafts, and experiential learning. Students in the Red

, Orange, and Yellow levels—grades K-2—meet on Sundays in our multi-age Alef class. Students in the Green, Blue, Purple, Silver, and Gold levels—grades 3-7—meet on Sundays and Wednesdays in our multi-age Bet class. At each color level, from Red through Silver, students choose from a variety of activities to achieve learning goals and earn badges in six areas:
• Holidays
• Hebrew/Tefillot (Prayers)
• Bible & Sacred Texts
• Jewish Heritage & Identity
• Mitzvot
• Israel
Our Gold level students, who are preparing for Bar/Bat Mitzvah, engage in project-based learning, focusing on topics of particular interest to the individual student. Several times throughout the school year, our Red through Gold level classes meet on Shabbat, whether on Friday evening, Saturday morning, or Saturday evening, instead of Sunday morning. The students experience services and community, and begin to take on leadership roles in the synagogue. School families provide a potluck meal for the congregation on these Shabbatot. Kivunim School is grateful to the Ravitz Foundation and the Covenant Foundation for funding the curriculum-writing and development of the learning program and materials.

Back for the first time since the pandemic! On Saturday, 9/9 from 12:30-2:30 at the Hawk Island picnic pavilion at the north end of the park, by the sledding hill. See map: https://drive.google.com/.../17WSNlBIOsanoUp91Xzo4cq.../view
Join Kehillat Israel and the Tikkun Olam committee to provide backpacks and school supplies for local newcomer (aka refugee) children. Bring your own picnic, games/toys, and a contribution to filling backpacks! KIvunim and Tikkun Olam will provide an assortment of treats (vegan, gf etc).
In selecting your options, please pick GENDER NEUTRAL ITEMS (primary colors or black, no characters) for school backpacks, folders, etc. We’re asking for specifically gender neutral backpacks as many of the children are in middle/high school and we don’t know how many boys/girls are in need. If you're not able to attend the event, please drop any contributions at KI before 10am on Saturday 9/9. Register for what items you will contribute at https://www.signupgenius.com/.../20F0A4DA9A82AA3FA7...
Enjoy some time with friends and community and do a mitzvah at the same time! All Kehillat Israel is welcome!

Super excited for our first round of chugim that will help kids understand the geo-political forces and religious perspectives leading up to the founding of the state of Israel. I'll be leading a "Risk-like" board game played in rounds that spans 1900 - post founding of Israel. Game tokens and historic maps acquired!!! Next to write the game deck!
