Today our Cross that sat on the Bell Tower came down. It was brought to our attention that it was leaning and has become a hazard to be up there. After working with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, they were able to assist us in bringing it down safely and evaluating what was going on.
We wanted to extend Thank yous and gratitude to a few people and companies who have come out to help us in this.
First we wanted to thank the Archdiocese and Joseph Dugan, Inc who was able to guide us and send contractors to come evaluate, and bring the Cross down safely and with respect. The contractors on scene with very nice and helpful throughout the who process. Also, thank you to Michael Lobis and his son who came out prior to this and got us drone footage of the Cross so that we can provide pictures to the Diocese and those who needed to see it. Next, thank you to Flagger force and the Borough of Lansdowne for assisting in the safety of the motorists, and those in the area to ensure the utmost safety for everyone. We are looking to ensure the Cross remains here on property and the hope and goal would be to put the Cross back up where it belongs on our Bell Tower after work can be done to ensure safety. As much as we are sad to see it come down, we are thankful that it was a good day, with nice weather and that the entire process went well with no problems. As for now we are looking for a place for the Cross to remain on Property for all to see as it is a part of us and sentimental to everyone here at Saint Philomena.
