Detroit Lions linebacker Trevor Bates and many other volunteers and coaches came together as one team on a cool summer day in June to help kids sharpen their basketball skills.

“A lot of people don’t really know what you’re going through,” says Trevor. “You go to sports camps. You may not have your dad there, and all these other kids have their parents there, and shame can come with that.”

Prison Fellowship Angel Tree camper Kylee, age 15, had her first camp experience this summer. Although she was hesitant to go and thought it might be boring, she shared she was proud of herself for “getting out of her comfort zone.”

After a week at Kids Across America Kamps she also said it was beyond her expectations and loved celebrating Jesus! Kylee mentioned the camp helped her get closer to God.

“I literally felt like I had a weight lifted off my shoulders. KAA is a place to bring you closer to God and other people. You'll make new friends. You'll have great experiences. You'll feel joyful. You'll get hype—and you can take all of this back home and share with others how to learn the love of God and celebrate Him.”

Vanessa, an incarcerated mother in Texas, shares with us how impactful Prison Fellowship Angel Tree has been for her daughters.

"I am so grateful for the financial support from Angel Tree. Without them, there was no way my household could afford to send two daughters to camp. They both stated what a supernatural experience they had in these retreats—especially on worship night. Both of my daughters have grown so much in their faith, have begun serving in their community, and have gotten baptized. Jesus truly reaches kids at these camps ... best decision I have ever made for them as a parent."
