New Kent County mourns the loss of James C. “Jimmy” Francisco, Jr., who served on the New Kent County Board of Supervisors from 1960 to 1975 and was the owner and principal broker of a prominent real estate business in the county, Francisco Real Estate.

Board of Supervisors Chair Thomas W. Evelyn spoke about Mr. Francisco at Monday night’s Board meeting, “New Kent County has lost another icon of the community, someone who gave a lot back to New Kent. He was 93 years old, lived a great life and I ask that you keep his children, Alice Ann and Jay, as well as the rest of the Francisco family in your prayers.”

Mr. Francisco served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Virginia State Police Officer. He was affiliated with many County organizations – New Kent Ruritan Club, Providence United Methodist Church, and the Social Services Board, just to name a few.

County flags are currently being flown at half-staff in respect and memory of former Supervisor Stran Trout until sundown on April 18, 2022. Earlier this afternoon, County Administrator Rodney Hathaway amended the flag order to honor both Trout and Francisco.
