This isn’t meant to be taken as biology. It’s symbolism — and it’s actually really interesting.
Jesus didn’t choose 12 disciples randomly.
In the Bible, the number 12 always points to God’s order and foundation.
12 tribes of Israel.
12 stones on the priest’s breastplate.
12 disciples.
12 gates and 12 foundations in the New Jerusalem.
Now think about this — the human body has 12 pairs of ribs.
They surround and protect the heart and lungs… the center of life.
That’s the picture.
Ribs aren’t flashy. They don’t get attention.
They quietly protect what matters most.
That’s what the disciples were called to do — carry, guard, and spread the life of Christ after His resurrection. Not for recognition, but for obedience.
This isn’t science proving the Bible.
It’s just another reminder that God is consistent in how He builds.
Intentional. Ordered. Purposeful.
In the body. In Scripture. In the Church.
