Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Carolina Foothills

Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Carolina Foothills UUFCF is a liberal religious community that traditionally meets on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 10:30 AM

UUFCF is affiliated with the Unitarian Universalist Association of North America and is an ethical and liberal religious community dedicated to promoting the ongoing search for truth and affirming the inherent worth of the individual. We understand reality through human experience, enlightened reason, scientific method, and the democratic process, and we find the central source of power and goodne

ss within the human heart, mind, and spirit. Individually and collectively, we assume responsibility for our future, our community, our children, and our interdependent world. Our growth and actions as thoughtful, compassionate, and ethical human beings advance our vision of a world of peace and love, dignity and equality, freedom, and justice. Our Fellowship strives to be a force for good in the Thermal Belt region.

Unitarian Universalism has no creeds and the closest we get to having dogmas are our beliefs that humanity is still learning about the universe and thus none of has (capital T) The Truth *and* that we are all in this together and would be better off if we treated every person like a member of our team.

Unitarian Universalism does not to give you Faith, fully formed and ready to go. I know that would be comforting to a lot of folks, and they will go somewhere that promises that, but we cannot make that offer with integrity.

Faith is built out of hope, and a Unitarian Universalist congregation is there to give you encouragement and help you build a faith that works for you, specifically. A faith that is yours, because you made it, tailored to your experience and needs.

If that appeals to you, you should seek out a congregation near you.

May you recognize in your life the presence,
power, and light of your soul.

May you realize that you are never alone,
that your soul in its brightness and belonging
connects you intimately with the rhythm of
the universe.

May you have respect for your individuality
and difference.

May you realize that the shape of your soul is unique,
that you have a special destiny here,
that behind the façade of your life,
there is something beautiful and eternal happening.

Stillness is vital to the world of the soul. If as you age you become more still, you will discover that stillness can be a great companion. The fragments of your life will have time to unify, and the places where your soul-shelter is wounded or broken will have time to knit and heal. You will be able to return to yourself. In this stillness, you will engage your soul. Many people miss out on themselves completely as they journey through life. They know others, they know places, they know skills, they know their work, but tragically, they do not know themselves at all. Aging can be a lovely time of ripening when you actually meet yourself, indeed maybe for the first time. There are beautiful lines from T. S. Eliot that say:

'And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.'
