Putting Him First

Deuteronomy 13:3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Deuteronomy 13:3 don't pay any attention to what that prophet or visionary says. God, your God, is testing you to find out if you totally love him with everything you have in you. Msg

The Hebrew word for love in this verse is ahab, which means human love for God. Throughout Scripture, we are commanded to give God first place in our hearts. The question is, why is that so important to God?

I don't know if we'll ever have the complete answer, except that God is the God of the heart. He created us, and since life flows from the heart, He alone can protect, heal, and sustain it.

For that reason alone, we should give Him first place. When God has our heart, He can help us with all our other relationships.

Enough is Enough

Deuteronomy 2:1Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the LORD spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days. 2 And the LORD spake unto me, saying, 3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.4 And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore: 5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth*; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession. 6 Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink. 7 For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing

This hit me like a ton of bricks today. God will let you know when enough is enough.
There are times in life when we're supposed to stay, hold on, and keep trying. But then there are times when we've been circling the same mountain way too long.
God told Israel, “You've been here long enough, turn and move.” And He does the same for us. Staying planted is one thing, but repeating the same cycle with no progress is different.
When God says “enough,” don't ignore it. He's not just ending something, He's giving directions.
And don't miss this. Before they moved, God reminded them they lacked nothing. Even in the wilderness, He provided.
So, when it's time to move, trust Him. If He brought you through the last season, He'll lead you into the next one.
