Why do people seek Jesus? Often because they think He is there to give us things...health, wealth and prosperity. Jesus challenges these folks by saying, "Do not work for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to eternal life, which the Son of man will give to you, for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal." (John 6:27)

Cold receptions and wrong priorities...how do you view Jesus Christ? In what are you placing your hope of deliverance? Don't imitate those who refuse to recognize Jesus Christ as the Messiah. Jesus is our sure Deliverer!

In this passage, the reader should understand that even those with an uninformed and consumeristic faith ought to come to Jesus! While their faith is less than ideal, Jesus is gracious nonetheless! Even less than ideal faith is better than no faith at all.

We live at a time when many demand signs before they will believe in Jesus Christ. The Samaritans in Sychar were those who believed; they believed the testimony of a sinful woman who came to know the Lord Jesus as Messiah, and they believed the Lord's word itself, and knew very well that He was indeed the Savior of the World. What do you do with the Word of Christ?

The Church and Pastor must be encouraged! It is "Through many tribulations (that) we must enter the kingdom of God." (Acts 14:22). Gospel ministry is difficult as it receives much opposition from the World. We learn from the Apostle's life that despite the opposition, a faithful servant must continue to strengthen the Church. The Work must go on!
