We’re kicking off a brand new season of Victory Youth with a Backyard Bash at the Crowders!

Food. Games. Friends. And a great night to get everyone back together as we jump into another year of growing in our faith and following Jesus together!

Around the Table: The Howell Family

Meet the Howell family! Doug and Melissa, along with their children, Evan, William, Sariah, Seleah, Mason, and Andrew, have been part of Victory Christian Church for about seven years. Their children have also been part of Victory Youth, and we’re thankful for the years their family has called Victory home!

Around their table, the Howells often talk about what Jesus has done for them and how their lives should reflect that they follow Him. They talk about the importance of telling the truth, being kind to others, and making choices that show the love of Jesus in their everyday lives.

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”
Colossians 3:17

It’s a simple but important reminder that following Jesus goes beyond Sunday morning. The way we speak, the choices we make, and the way we treat others are all opportunities to show people the love of Christ.

Around the Table: The Crowder Family

Meet the Crowder family! Christopher and Mary, along with their children, Greyson and Avery, are grateful to be part of the Victory Christian Church family. Their family is also growing, with Camden Joy expected to arrive next month!

Chris and Mary help with Victory Youth and with technology on Sunday mornings.

Lately, some of their conversations around the table have centered on Greyson’s questions about baptism and his desire to better understand what it means. Together, they’ve been talking about why we are baptized, what baptism represents, and what it means to personally follow Jesus.

“We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.”
Romans 6:4

It’s a simple reminder of what Around the Table is all about. Making room in our everyday lives to talk about Jesus, ask questions, open God’s Word, and grow together as a family.

We’re thankful for these conversations, for our growing family, and for a church family that continues to encourage us to grow closer to Jesus. ❤️

Around the Table: The Miller Family

Meet the Miller family! Dusty and Bre, along with their son Colson, have been part of Victory Christian Church for about two and a half years. Their family serves in our Nursery Ministry when needed, and Bre helps lead our Women’s Connect Group alongside Stephanie Wilmot. Their family is also growing as they prepare to welcome their first daughter this November!

Their conversation around the table started in a little different way this week. A new song from Brandon Lake, “How Good God Is,” sparked a conversation about unexpected struggles, pain, hardship, and learning to recognize the goodness of God even in difficult seasons.

That conversation led them to Psalm 10:1-18 and a question most of us have probably asked at some point: “Why, God?”

They talked about people throughout Scripture like Moses, David, Habakkuk, Job, and the disciples who experienced seasons of questioning and struggling to understand what God was doing. Psalm 10 begins with that same kind of honest question:

“Why, Lord, do you stand far off? Why do you hide yourself in times of trouble?”
Psalm 10:1

Their conversation was a reminder that difficult seasons can expose where our hearts and minds are focused. It can be easy in those moments to turn toward fear, pride, anger, or our own understanding. But those same seasons can also drive us back to prayer, dependence on God, and a deeper understanding of His strength and faithfulness.

Sometimes it’s only after walking through a difficult season that we can look back and see just how faithfully God carried us through it.

Even in the questions, even in the waiting, and even in the struggles, God is still good.

Around the Table: The Hacker Family

Meet the Hacker family! Travis and Leah, along with their children, Aidynn, Kayleigh, and Raymeigh, know firsthand how quickly life can get busy. Between work, sports, school, and everything in between, getting everyone around the table at the same time isn’t always easy.

And maybe that’s a reminder many of our families need. Around the Table doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. What matters is finding opportunities in the middle of busy schedules to slow down, spend time together, and keep Jesus at the center of our homes.

“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:15

The Hackers are also no strangers to serving at Victory. Both Travis and Aidynn are part of our Men’s Bible Study, and their entire family jumped in and was a huge help during VBS this year. Travis and Leah also share a special history with our church, as they were married right here at Victory in 2018!

We’re thankful for the Hacker family and their willingness to serve. Their story is a great reminder that even when life gets busy, the moments we intentionally make for Jesus and one another matter. ❤️

Around the Table: The Wright Family

Meet Bill and Tracy Wright! They have two adult children, Meredith and Malcolm, who are not pictured. As empty nesters, their Around the Table looks a little different these days.

Bill and Tracy are true servants, and we’re so thankful for the many ways they continue to pour into our church and community. Bill is actively involved in our Men’s Ministry, where he encourages and provides much needed wisdom to younger generations. Tracy leads our missions efforts at Victory and helps coordinate our community partnerships, including our ministry with Haven Care Center.

As they’ve watched the Around the Table posts from families with children still at home, they’ve been reminded just how quickly those years pass. Looking back on raising Meredith and Malcolm, they shared a great reminder: “The days are long, but the years are short.” They miss those days and encourage families to soak them in because they go by much faster than we realize.

They didn’t actually make it around their own table much this week, unless chips and salsa count! Instead, this picture was taken while they were together at a wedding.

Their conversation centered around Ecclesiastes 4:12:

“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
Ecclesiastes 4:12

And apparently, the conversation wasn’t all agreement! They also had a spirited debate over Ephesians 5:22.

Bill and Tracy also share a special history with Victory. This October will mark 25 years since they were baptized at Victory!

Their story is a great reminder that Around the Table changes through different seasons of life. The kids grow up, the table may get a little quieter, but the importance of keeping Jesus at the center never changes.

Around the Table: The Leavell Family

Meet the Leavell family! Alana, Copley, little Miss Sally, and KJ, who is not pictured, have been part of Victory Christian Church for about four years. The Leavells have servants’ hearts, never shy away from hard work, and are always willing to lend a hand. They’re also always good for a laugh!

Copley and Sally are both part of Victory Kids, and Alana has served as a group leader during VBS for the past few years. We’re thankful for the ways their family continues to jump in and serve at Victory!

Their conversation around the table was about what it means to love through our actions and not just our words. Like most family conversations, this one came straight from real life. After a little fighting between the siblings, it was a good opportunity to talk about how we can say we love one another, but our actions should show that love too. 😂❤️

“Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.”
1 John 3:18

It’s a simple lesson for the kids, but a great reminder for all of us. Love isn’t just something we say. It’s something we show.

Around the Table: The Domidion Family

Meet the Domidion family! Jerry and Amy, along with their children Jack and Graham, and Grayson, who is not pictured, have been part of Victory Christian Church for five years. We’re so thankful for their family and the many ways they have been part of Victory!

Jerry serves as one of our Elders, and Amy is part of our Women’s Bible Study. Jack and Graham are both part of Victory Youth, and Jack also helps with our technology on Sunday mornings. Grayson grew up as a student in Victory Youth and later served as a college leader and on our Praise Team. The entire family also serves together on “The Crew,” our welcome team!

Around the dinner table, the Domidion family took some time to open God’s Word together. Amy was reading from her study Bible in Ezekiel 12, and their conversation turned to the importance of staying close to God and how easy it can be to slowly drift away from Him when we aren’t intentional about our relationship with Him.

It’s a great reminder that drifting usually doesn’t happen all at once. Staying grounded in God’s Word, spending time with Him, and encouraging one another helps keep our hearts focused on Jesus.

“Therefore we must pay much closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it.”
Hebrews 2:1

Sometimes time around the table is simply slowing down, opening God’s Word together, and reminding one another to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.

Around the Table: The Dowell Family

Meet the Dowell family! Blake and Madison, along with their girls, Blakelynn and Lonni Kate, spent some time around the table talking about Matthew 5:14-16 while helping their preschooler with her homework.

Their conversation focused especially on verse 16 and what it means to let the light of Jesus shine through us, not just at church, but everywhere we go.

“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16

They encouraged her to let Jesus’ light shine at school through the way she treats her friends, listens to her teachers, and loves others. As they talked, they were reminded that the same truth applies to all of us. Whether we’re at work, at school, at home, or wherever God places us, we have an opportunity to reflect Jesus in the way we live and love others.

Their prayer is simple: that their family will continue to shine His light wherever they go. 🤍

What a great reminder that some of the most meaningful conversations about Jesus can happen right in the middle of everyday life, even while doing preschool homework!

Around the Table: The Goens Family ❤️

Meet the Goens family! Doug, Lisa, Alivia, and Natalie have been part of Victory Christian Church for six years this month, and they’re thankful to call Victory home!

Doug serves as a Leadership and Board Member, and together, Doug and Lisa lead our Grace Marriage Ministry. They’re also involved in our Men’s and Women’s Bible Studies, continuing to grow in God’s Word alongside our church family.

Their conversation around the table centered on 1 John 1:7:

“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
1 John 1:7

They talked about how living honestly and transparently before God creates room for genuine fellowship with other believers and ultimately draws us closer to Him.

For the Goens family, that means they don’t have to pretend to be perfect. They can talk about the hard things, admit when they’re wrong, ask questions, and even disagree while still loving one another. Most importantly, they can bring all of it to Jesus, seeking Him through His Word and growing closer to Him and one another in the process.

What a great reminder that walking in the light means we don’t have to walk alone.
