This past Sunday we had a blessing of our calendars in preparation for the new year. It was a time to ask God’s blessing - presence, favor, protection, and guidance - on all that will happen in our lives and church in the new year. It is also a time to dedicate our lives to the Lord so that we are aligned with the purposes of God. We reflected on the words of John the Baptist, “Jesus must become greater, I must become less.” John had a clear sense of identity where he realized he had an important role to play, but he was not Him. So with us this new year.

This is a good time to stop and reflect on our lives.
What are you grateful for during 2025?
How has God spoken to you, or blessed, or brought conviction in the previous year? How is that reshaping you?

In a listening attitude, what might God be saying for 2026? How is the Spirit revealing a focus or a direction? (This is not a one time exercise of asking for direction)

We had a special time of packing MCC school kits together recently. There's always a great response to this effort to bless others. This year we packed 253 kits.

We are cancelling our activities today at Witmer Heights, Jan 19--both Sunday School and worship service due to the impending snow.

You can reflect on our scripture and theme of the day:
Discipleship: following Jesus in all areas of life

24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life[f] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done. Matthew 16

More on that in an upcoming service as we continue a series on the key emphases and convictions of the Anabaptist movement over the years.

Heaven meets earth...The Uncreated One comes as one created...The Holy invades the unholy...The Word becomes flesh and dwells among us.
Will we have the humility and openness to receive Him like Mary?
