Day 2

Psalm 13:1-2

God invites you to bring your questions into His presence, not to hide them behind spiritual-sounding phrases. David asks, “How long?”—a question that acknowledges both pain and relationship. Lament is not unbelief; it is faith speaking honestly when life hurts, because you only bring raw questions to someone you believe is listening.

The sermon highlighted how some people were taught not to ask God “why,” yet the Bible repeatedly shows God’s people doing exactly that. The danger is not asking; the danger is drifting—letting unanswered questions become distance. Today is about turning your confusion into conversation with God, trusting that He can handle your honesty and will meet you in it.

What have you been afraid to say to God? Write a one-sentence “How long?” prayer in your own words.

When you feel unheard, what do you usually do (withdraw, numb out, overwork, control)? What would it look like to turn toward God instead?

Ask God to show you one lie you’ve believed about Him in suffering (e.g., “He’s punishing me” or “He’s absent”).

Practice a simple lament: name the pain, ask for help, and express trust—even if it feels small.

Who could you encourage by simply listening to their hard questions without correcting or lecturing them?

5 Day Devotional

Life brings moments that don’t fit into easy answers—diagnoses, losses, betrayals, and transitions that leave us asking, “Why?” Over the next five days, you’ll revisit the sermon’s invitation to bring hard questions to God, anchor your heart in His presence, and learn to see your suffering through the lens of what is eternal. Each day will help you practice faith that stays close to Jesus when you feel perplexed, pressured, or struck down.

Day 1

2 Corinthians 4:8-9

Suffering often raises questions we didn’t choose, and it can feel like faith is being tested at the seams. Paul doesn’t pretend the pressure is small—he names it plainly: pressured, perplexed, persecuted, struck down. Yet he also refuses to let pain tell the whole story. In Christ, affliction is real, but it is not final; hardship can hit hard without having the last word over you.

When you find yourself asking “Why?”, you are not automatically being faithless—you are being honest. The sermon reminded us that God is not intimidated by our questions, and Scripture gives language for believers who are hurting. The goal is not to stop feeling or to silence your grief; the goal is to stay near God in the middle of it, trusting that even when you don’t understand, you are not crushed, abandoned, or destroyed.

Name one area where you feel “pressured in every way” right now; what does it look like to admit that to God without minimizing it?

Where do you feel “perplexed” (confused or unsettled)? Write your “why” question as a prayer instead of a complaint.

Which phrase do you need most today: not crushed, not in despair, not abandoned, not destroyed? Why?

Identify one person you can talk to this week who will listen well without trying to fix you too quickly.

What is one small act of faith you can take today (pray honestly, attend worship, ask for help) that keeps you close to God?

Day 5

Matthew 5:14-16

Jesus calls His followers the light of the world, not to draw attention to themselves but to point people to the Father. The sermon encouraged graduates to love God, live like they belong to Him, and share God’s wisdom—often without needing many words. Your life can preach long before you ever speak about church or faith.

As you step into new spaces, remember that home helped form who you are, and where you are going will shape who you want to be. Decide now that your growth is not just for you: God will use what He teaches you to strengthen someone else. When you serve, show integrity, and practice compassion, people will notice a different kind of road—and your steady trust in the curves can become an invitation for others to trust Christ too.

Where has God placed you right now to be a light (campus, workplace, team, friend group, family)?

What is one specific way you can serve someone this week without needing recognition?

What habit or attitude would most clearly show that you belong to Jesus (kindness, honesty, purity, courage, humility)?

Who is one person you can encourage with Scripture or godly wisdom this week, and how will you do it?

Pray: “Lord, make my life reflect You today,” then choose one action that matches that prayer.

Day 4

Psalm 119:9-11

New freedom brings new voices, and not all of them lead to life. Scripture asks, “How can a young person keep his way pure?” and answers: by guarding your life according to God’s word and storing it in your heart. The sermon’s “how do you do that?” was simple and powerful: you do it by living in the Bible, not merely owning one.

When God’s word is in you, it shapes what you listen to, what you desire, and how you respond when no one is watching. The goal is not to win arguments or look religious; it is to have a steady inner compass when temptation and pressure show up. If you want to follow the narrow road consistently, you need a daily rhythm that keeps your heart close to Jesus.

What pattern would help you consistently store God’s word in your heart (morning reading, audio Bible, memorization, journaling)?

Which environments or media most often pull you away from purity or peace? What boundary can you set?

Choose one verse to memorize this week that speaks to your current struggle or fear.

Who could you study Scripture with regularly so you are not trying to grow alone?

Before bed tonight, ask: “What did I listen to today that shaped me?” Then pray for discernment tomorrow.

Good evening Camp Creek and online visitors! Thank you so much for tuning in for our midweek message! Tonight I want to challenge you all to continue to pray for one another as we focus on the clip from preacher Randy's sermon this week where he encouraged graduates to be plugged in to a church if they are moving away from home! We are called to be active members of the body of Christ, not passive pew sitters!
