PRIORITIZING GOD
📖 Haggai 1
Speaker: Apostle Laura Roberts
How can we put so much time, attention, and care into building our own lives while allowing the things of God to lie in ruins?
In Haggai 1, the people had returned from exile and were busy building and improving their own homes while the temple of God remained unfinished and neglected. God told them to “consider your ways.”
You sow much, but bring in little.
You eat, but you’re never satisfied.
You drink, but you’re still thirsty.
You earn wages, only to put them into a bag with holes.
Have you ever wondered why you keep getting more, but still feel empty? Why you save, but it never seems like enough? Why you accomplish something, buy something, or reach another goal, yet contentment still feels out of reach?
What if the problem isn’t that you need more? What if God is no longer your priority?
We can spend so much time fixing the outward appearance while our hearts and souls remain empty.
We make room for the house.
Room for the clothes.
Room for the money.
Room for entertainment.
Room for our plans.
Room for everything our flesh desires—
and then try to fit God into whatever space is left.
God is not a spacer.
He is not meant to fill the gaps in your schedule when everything else is finished. He is not an accessory to the life you are building.
When we fill ourselves with everything else, we shouldn’t be surprised when our spirits are starving.
“Consider your ways.” — Haggai 1:5
God doesn’t want the leftover space.
He wants priority.
