Happy month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus! Jesus is with us in our suffering. He wants to be present with us in our pain. When we are struggling, we often look for ways to relieve our pain. Jesus reminds us that consolation is not absence of pain but rather His presence with us in the midst of our pain. This month, let's think about ways that we will let God be with us in our suffering.

June 2 Sts. Marcellinus and Peter ✝️
In the stillness of a prison cell and the shadows of a Roman forest, two faithful servants of Christ—Marcellinus the priest and Peter the exorcist—gave their lives for the Gospel.
Their martyrdom was hidden from the world, yet radiant in Heaven. They died in secret, but their names are forever remembered in the litany of saints.
In a time of persecution, they stood firm. In chains, they preached freedom. In death, they bore witness to eternal life.
Today, let us honor these quiet heroes of the early Church.
And may we, too, be faithful in the silence, brave in suffering, and joyful in sacrifice.

St. Justin Martyr (100–165 A.D.) was a pagan philosopher from Samaria. After meeting a Syrian Christian who convinced him that the biblical prophets were more trustworthy in the pursuit of truth than worldly philosophers, St. Justin renounced his paganism and studied Sacred Scripture. The bold witness of the early Christian martyrs led to his own conversion to the Catholic faith. St. Justin then used his philosophical and rhetorical skills to defend Christianity, the “true philosophy,” against rival pagan philosophies and political powers which maligned and persecuted the Church. He traveled throughout Asia Minor teaching, arguing, and persuading others to accept baptism and follow Christ, before arriving in Rome where he settled and started his own school. Justin was arrested for his faith in Rome and ordered to make sacrifice to false gods, which he refused. He was martyred by beheading along with several of his students. Justin Martyr is famous for writing the Church’s first “Apology,” or defense of the Christian faith, showing that Christianity was superior to the pagan religions, and that Christians were model citizens and should not be mistreated. His writings are a prime source of the history of the primitive Church in worship and sacraments, including the Holy Eucharist. He is one of the first great apologists of the Church, and for this he is the patron saint of speakers, apologists, and philosophers. His feast day is June 1st.

MAY 31: Today, the Church celebrates Holy Trinity Sunday, a day set aside to honor the mystery at the very heart of our faith: one God in three Divine Persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

It's a mystery we'll never fully understand on this side of Heaven, but it's also something deeply personal.

God isn't distant from us.
The Father created you and loves you.
Jesus gave His life to save you and open the way to eternal life.
The Holy Spirit is still at work today, guiding, strengthening, and helping us grow in holiness.

Every time we make the Sign of the Cross, pray, go to Mass, or receive the sacraments, we're reminded of this reality.

In a world that constantly tells us to focus on ourselves, the Holy Trinity shows us what real love looks like: self-giving, unity, and communion.

Today is a good day to slow down, thank God for His presence in your life, and remember that you were created for a relationship with Him.

May the Father bless you, may Jesus draw you closer to His Most Sacred Heart, and may the Holy Spirit fill you with the flame of His love, His peace, wisdom, and grace. 🙏

💬 When did you feel closest to God in your life?

Today, on the Feast of the Holy Trinity, we celebrate the day of the real love, because God is love, as Pope Benedict XVI reminded us in his encyclical Deus Caritas Est ("God is love")

A new film on the Sacred Heart is coming to theaters this June and it has a few local showings!

"Sacred Heart: His Reign Has No End" is a new docudrama that intertwines the story of Sacred Heart visionary and messenger St. Margaret Mary Alacoque with testimonies from priests, nuns, historians, and theologians who reflect on Jesus' revelations of love.

The film is showing in theaters through Fathom Entertainment and will be presented in English on June 9, 11, and 14; and in Spanish on June 10. In our diocese, it will play in Madison, Sun Prairie, Janesville, and Beloit (in English only; the closest the Spanish version is coming is the Chicago area). Check out https://www.fathomentertainment.com/releases/sacred-heart/ for more information and to see where and when it is showing near you!

(And don't forget, Bishop Hying is consecrating our diocese to the Sacred Heart of Jesus in the same week that this film is showing; get your tickets for the movie and then attend Bishop Hying's special Mass with consecration to the Sacred Heart on Friday, June 12 at 7:00 pm at Sacred Hearts Church in Sun Prairie!)

🔥 Saint of the Day: St. Joan of Arc 🔥Feast Day: May 30
In a world full of noise and uncertainty, St. Joan of Arc reminds us what it means to listen to God's voice with courage and act with unwavering faith, even when the world doesn’t understand us.

Though she was young and untrained, she led armies and inspired a nation, all because she trusted in the divine call placed in her heart.

What is God asking of you today?
Maybe it's not leading troops into battle , but it might be standing up for truth, forgiving someone, or staying faithful when it’s hard.

💬 “I am not afraid… I was born to do this.” – St. Joan of Arc

🕊️ St. Joan of Arc, pray that we may be brave, faithful, and open to God’s will in our lives.

Our host week for Family Promise begins on Sunday. We still need a few people to help fill our fellowship shift from 7-9pm. All you need to do is bring a book and be present if the family needs something. Contact Bill Manthe or Peg Jonas to volunteer.
Also, Peg and Bill will be in the back of church this weekend asking help for our needed beverage and food items for breakfast.
Thank you for your kindness!

To accompany his constant calls for peace in the world, Pope Leo XIV will lead the prayer of the Holy Rosary on May 30 at 7:00 PM Rome time from the Vatican Gardens.

He will lead the faithful in Shrines around the world in praying the Joyful Mysteries, with each decade being dedicated specifically for those affected by war and violence and entrusting them to the intercession of Mary, Queen of Peace.

The first mystery prays for the victims of war, especially the most vulnerable, while the second is for those who bring words of hope and the comfort of faith to populations affected by war. The third recalls the medical and paramedical personnel and volunteers who bring humanitarian aid every day.

The fourth mystery prays for those who suffer the violence of war, for prisoners and for all who endure humiliations that violate human dignity. The fifth and final Joyful Mystery is dedicated to praying for an end to war and the establishment of lasting peace in the world.
