Grandview Church Lancaster

Grandview Church Lancaster Grandview Church in Lancaster, PA, practices a thinking faith that likes questions. We don't take the Bible literally; we do take it seriously.

We make our spirituality active through acts of justice locally and globally. We believe God is love. In all these ways, we live out the best aspects of Methodist faith. Jesus Christ calls Grandview Church to be a fully inclusive church, recognizing the sacred worth of all people, including those of every race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, and ability. What better way to kickoff our year of Youth & Beyond than by facing our fears!?

Meet on the side lawn for an evening of fun, fellowship, and maybe a little bit of fear. Our night will include a series of games that push students out of their comfort zone just enough to create new bonds with the rest of the group.

The evening will also include a journaling session/lesson time and snack!

Please note: This event WILL BE MESSY. Please wear old clothes. Students in grades 6-12 are welcome!

Located in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, Wittel Farm is much more than a working farm. It is a place where agriculture, faith, service, and community come together. As part of the Lutheran Camping Corporation, Wittel Farm provides a peaceful rural setting where people can step away from their everyday lives, reconnect with creation, and serve others. Angela Martin, director of the farm, will speak at the service on September 20th.

One of the farm’s most important programs is the Wittel Farm Growing Project. Through this project, volunteers plant, w**d, maintain, and harvest fresh vegetables that are donated to help feed people experiencing food insecurity throughout Lancaster County and south-central Pennsylvania. Grandview has the special opportunity to support the farm growing project in September as the special offering.

This past Sunday we concluded our series on the parables with a look at Luke 14:15-24, the Parable of the Great Dinner. Pastor Liz's sermon, "Blessed Is...," sounded something like this:
"Blessed is anyone who will eat bread in the kingdom of God.
Blessed is anyone who will go out on a limb to make another feel welcome.
Blessed is anyone who will care for others beyond the limits of their own social group.
Blessed is anyone who shares without a promise of payback.
Blessed is anyone who forgets the name of someone they just met, but humbles themselves to go ask again.
Blessed is anyone who is willing to sacrifice comfort for true community.
Blessed is anyone who extends grace when it would be easier to turn away.
Blessed is anyone who fails to love well, but keeps trying anyway.
Blessed is anyone who steps to the side to make more room."

At 11am, vocalist Becca Goebel shared with us "Ave Maria" as our special music.

Gotta take a minute to brag on those 56ers!

This past Sunday, 7 of our 5th and 6th grade students teamed up with to make over 400 turkey & cheese sandwiches! These sandwiches will be handed out to folks in Lancaster City facing food insecurity.

Not only did our students knock it out of the park with how many sandwiches they made, but they handled it with the best attitude, too!
