Journey Church

Journey Church We're a community of people "in process". We have imperfect, messy lives, but we're pursuing & experiencing a transformative relationship with Jesus.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME AT JOURNEY. We don't care who you voted for, how many figures are in your income, what kind of flip flops you wear, what doubts or questions you have or even how messed up you think your life might be. We have a place for you...unless, of course, you're perfect. In that case, you might not like it around here, because we're a No-Perfect-People-Allowed kind of church. We're a co

mmunity of people who are "in process." We have imperfect, messy lives, but we're pursuing and experiencing a transformative relationship with Jesus and one another. People often think they've got to get their act together before showing up at church. That's the exact opposite of what God intended. He, more than anyone, knows that life is challenging, and His church is meant to be friends who spur you on with both truth and love. So, whether you've been following Jesus for a long time or you're exploring faith for the first time, we're glad you're here.

🐷💄 YOU CAN PUT LIPSTICK ON A PIG…

…but it’s still a pig. 😂

I heard that saying yesterday, and for some reason it stuck with me.

Because sometimes we do the same thing spiritually.

We clean up the outside.
We say the right things.
We show up looking like we’ve got it all together.
We slap on a little spiritual lipstick and hope nobody notices what’s happening underneath. 💄😂

But here’s the thing…

God isn’t fooled by the lipstick.
He sees our HEART. ❤️

And He’s not asking us to pretend we have it all together. He’s asking us to BE REAL with Him.

Tell Him where you’re really at.

Tell Him what hurts.

Tell Him what you’re struggling with.

Tell Him where you’ve messed up.

Because when we stop trying to look transformed and allow God to actually transform us from the inside out… THAT’S where the real change happens.

No more spiritual filters.
No more pretending.
No more lipstick on the pig. 🐷💄

Be real with God. Let Him work on the heart.

Because God isn’t interested in making us LOOK better.

He wants to make us NEW. 🙌

📖 “People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7

📍GPS - Gods Positioning System

If you were at Journey Church today, then you KNOW. 😂

We kicked off our new series, “A Spiritual Life,” and today we talked about something we all understand:

📍 LOCATION.

Your GPS can’t get you where you’re going if it doesn’t know where you are.

And neither can you move forward spiritually if you’re not willing to be honest about where you are right now.

Maybe you’re on the right road.

Maybe you’ve taken a few wrong turns.

Maybe you’re completely lost.

Maybe you’re sitting in the spiritual parking lot with the engine running. 😂

But here’s this week’s challenge:

BE HONEST WITH GOD ABOUT WHERE YOU’RE AT. 📍

Not where you wish you were.

Not where you think you’re supposed to be.

Not where everyone else thinks you are.

Where are YOU?

God already knows your location. You’re not going to surprise Him.

So tell Him.

Because when you’re honest about where you are, God can begin directing you toward where He wants you to go.

And if you’ve taken a wrong turn?

Don’t panic.

RECALCULATING… 🙏😂

This is just the beginning of A Spiritual Life.

Apparently, even Elijah had to WAIT. 😂

God basically said, “Go sit by the brook. I’ll take care of the rest.”

And Elijah probably thought, “Ummm…how long is this going to take?” 🤔

Sound familiar?

Sometimes God has us waiting because He’s preparing us for what’s next. Not because He forgot us. Not because He’s ignoring our prayers. And definitely not because He lost our address. 😂

Maybe your waiting season is actually your preparation season.

So if you’ve been wondering, “God, WHAT are You doing?”…

Maybe you’re not ready for what He’s getting ready to do. 👀

And speaking of what’s next…

📖 OUR NEW SERIES STARTS TOMORROW!

Come see what God has in store. You might just discover that your waiting season has a purpose. 🙏

See you tomorrow!

🧳 THE SUITCASE ISN’T THE BEGINNING.

Watched a Lifetime movie about a “suitcase killer” and thought…

How does someone go THAT far?

The uncomfortable truth is that extreme consequences can grow from smaller choices.

One compromise.
One secret.
One choice we justify.

Then another.

And another.

Until the consequences become unimaginable.

That’s not just a crime story.

It’s a warning about the human heart.

“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
— Proverbs 4:23

We all carry things.

Regret.
Bitterness.
Temptation.
Unforgiveness.
Habits we’ve learned to excuse.

And just like a suitcase gets heavier with everything we put inside it, our spiritual lives are shaped by what we continually allow into our hearts.

That’s why our spiritual life can’t be an afterthought.

What we feed grows. What we tolerate shapes us. What we carry can eventually control us.

So the question isn’t just, “Am I going to church?”

It’s:

🧳 How healthy is my spiritual life?
🧳 What am I carrying?
🧳 What needs to be surrendered to God?

Because a spiritual life requires attention.

And this Sunday at Journey Church, we begin a new series:

A SPIRITUAL LIFE

Not just what happens on Sunday.

How we live with Christ every single day.

📖 Sunday • 10:30 AM.
See you then!

🚗 Some of us take better care of our cars than we do the temple God gave us.

Let that sink in.

We know when the oil needs changing.

We know when the tires need attention.

We know the warning lights shouldn’t be ignored.

We maintain our vehicles because we know neglect eventually becomes expensive.

But what about us?

We keep running when we’re exhausted.

Ignore what hurts.

Put off rest.

Feed our bodies whatever is convenient.

Carry stress, bitterness, and unforgiveness.

And sometimes go days without giving God our attention.

Yet Scripture says:

“Your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit… You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
— 1 Corinthians 6:19–20

Different cars have different maintenance schedules.

But every car needs maintenance.
And so does every temple.

Maybe you’re not broken.

Maybe you’re simply overdue for a service.🔧

A little prayer.
A little rest.
A little time in God’s Word.
A little worship.
A little surrender.

Jesus made the ultimate investment in you.

Don’t neglect what He paid so dearly for.

❤️ When was the last time you checked the condition of your temple?

Sometimes people don’t need us to fix it. They just need us to stay. ❤️

“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.” — 2 Corinthians 1:3–4

When my son was little, he came running into the house crying after a skateboarding mishap in the cul-de-sac. I couldn’t take his pain away. I could only hold him, comfort him, and stay with him until the pain passed.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what people need from us.

Not answers.
Not clichĂŠs.
Not advice.

Just our presence.

When someone is hurting, we can sit with them. Listen. Put an arm around them. Pray with them. Remind them they don’t have to walk through it alone.

That’s what Jesus did. He came close.

As a church, let’s be a safe place where people don’t have to hide their brokenness or pretend they’re okay. We may not be able to fix what hurts, but we can love people through it.

So this week, ask yourself:

Who needs me to simply show up?

Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus. 🙏❤️

See you Sunday @10:30am

DON’T GO TO SLEEP WORRYING ABOUT TOMORROW. PRAY ABOUT IT.

Nehemiah prayed for favor before he walked into the room.

Tonight, give God your tomorrow.
Pray. Trust. Then sleep. 🙏

THIS WEEK, I CHALLENGE YOU TO DO LESS. 👀

Yep. You read that right.

Not another challenge to add something to your already-packed schedule.

This week, I want you to take something OFF your schedule.

Jesus entered Martha’s home, and Martha immediately went into get-it-done mode.

Mary?

She sat at Jesus’ feet.

Martha was busy serving Jesus.

Mary was busy being with Jesus.

And Jesus said Mary had chosen what was better.

So here’s your challenge for the week:

🛑 THE “MARY MOMENT” CHALLENGE

Every day, notice one moment when you’re rushing, overthinking, multitasking, or trying to get everything done.

Instead of immediately jumping into the next thing…

STOP.

Take a breath.

Put down whatever is in your hands.

And simply whisper:

“Jesus, I’m here.”

Then ask:

“What do You want me to notice right now?”

Maybe it’s your spouse.
Maybe it’s your child.
Maybe it’s someone who needs encouragement.
Maybe it’s the beauty of something God created.
Maybe it’s the fact that you’ve been running so hard you forgot to enjoy the life He’s given you.

Don’t fill the silence.

Just be there with Him.

Because sometimes the spiritual life isn’t about doing MORE.

Sometimes it’s about recognizing God is already there.

We’re starting our new series THE SPIRITUAL LIFE this Sunday at Journey Church.

And this week, let’s practice something our culture doesn’t always value:

Being still enough to notice God.

So… are you willing to do less to experience more of Him?

Comment “I’M IN” if you’re taking the Mary Moment Challenge. ❤️
