The White Memorial Seventh-day Adventist Church in Portland, Maine, is located just a few miles from Gorham, Maine, where Ellen G. White was born. The church is named in her honor.

Last Sabbath, June 6, Dr. David McKenzie, Executive Secretary of the Atlantic Union Conference, and his family shared in the church's Multicultural Day of Worship, where Dr. McKenzie presented the Divine Service message. In his sermon, he reflected on the history of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, reminded the congregation of where we are in earth's history, and pointed them to the blessed hope of Christ's soon return.

Following the service, they visited the town of Gorham and the site where Ellen G. White's childhood home once stood. What a remarkable and inspiring experience it was to visit a place so closely connected to one of the pioneers and the rich heritage of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

May we all remain faithful, keeping our hope firmly fixed on the soon coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Atlantic Union Conference Climb Higher Camporee – Sabbath Update

The highlight of Sabbath at the Climb Higher Camporee came when 22 Pathfinders and Adventurers publicly committed their lives to Jesus Christ through baptism. Despite temperatures in the low 50s, their radiant smiles as they emerged from the water warmed every heart and reminded us why we gather—to help young people climb higher in their walk with Jesus.

More than 6,000 Pathfinders, Adventurers, staff, and volunteers filled the Goshen Fairgrounds this weekend, experiencing a true New England spring with powerful wind gusts and rapidly changing weather. Some campsites lost tents and kitchen areas, but the Pathfinder and Adventurer spirit remained strong as clubs rallied together, helping one another recover and rebuild.

The day also included special tributes honoring leaders whose faithful service has shaped generations of young people through these life-changing ministries.

What a powerful reminder that faith grows strongest when challenges are met with perseverance, community, and a commitment to follow Christ.

Climb Higher Camporee | Day 2

Friday evening brought a special moment of gratitude as youth leaders from across the Atlantic Union honored Dr. David McKenzie for his years of dedicated service as vice president for Youth and Young Adult Ministries. Dr. McKenzie now serves as executive secretary of the Atlantic Union Conference.

Joined by youth directors from all six conferences, Enmanuel Contreras, current Atlantic Union VP for Youth and Young Adult Ministries, Ron Whitehead of the Lake Union Conference, and Armando Miranda of the North American Division, the tribute celebrated a legacy of leadership, mentorship, and ministry that has impacted countless young people throughout the Atlantic Union.

Thank you, Dr. McKenzie, for investing in the next generation and faithfully answering God's call. Your influence will continue to be felt for years to come.
