Here is the prayer from this Sunday. We hope you enjoy your Memorial Day, and we are thankful for the freedom we have and for those who have served our country. 🙏🏼
Father, we thank you for this country in which we live. We thank you for the freedoms that we have in the United States. We thank you for those who have gone before us, who made the greatest sacrifice to protect the freedom that we enjoy. We ask Father that we would always be mindful of those who gave the last full measure of devotion. We lift up the spouses and children, parents and siblings, family and friends who live with the daily reminder of the true cost of freedom. We ask for Your comfort and peace for those who are grieving and hurting. Father, we also lift up those who struggle with not only with loss, but with feelings of guilt. The guilt of surviving when others did not. We ask Father that You would be their comfort, that they would find rest in You.
We are also reminded Father of the example of Your Son, who gave His life for the forgiveness of our sins. Jesus lived a perfect life, and was obedient to Your will, even to death. Jesus told His disciples in John 15:13 “that greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for a friend”. We thank you Father that because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross we are not just friends, but are called your children. We thank you Father for your perfect plan, we thank you that on the third day He rose to prepare a place for us. A place without the scars of war and death.
We pray Father that this Memorial Day as we remember those who paid the price for our freedom, we would also remember the One who paid the price for our sin. We pray Father for our Nation, that Your people would humble ourselves and turn from our wicked ways. We ask Father that You would hear from heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land. We ask Father that we would truly seek to be one nation under God. Amen.
